These Strings went dead after only 4 hours

About Me Professional Musician

Comments about Ernie Ball 2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I am so disappointed in these strings I decided needed to tell others of m experience. I play over 100 gigs a year, usually using Martin SP strings. I picked up a few packs of these Medium Earthwound 80/20s on sale. After only FOUR hours the wound strings were dead...hollow sounding with no projection. I had been very humid and I can only think that these interact very poorly to sweat...and if you gig in the summer you are going to sweat. I have never before had this problem with strings and am really shocked and disappointed in these strings.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

They sound good for how long idk because I'm stripping them off I can't even press the strings down and it's got me so aggrevated about even playing. Get elixirs if not them d 'addirio. I hated spending time puttn them on and can't even play the stupid guitar now. So Ima throw away brand new strings because they're too stiff and I suck.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

When it came time to choose between these strings and the light gauge Earthwoods, I opted for these because of an irrational fear I have when it comes to tightening light strings. However, these strings made my acoustic sound WAY too dark. It's not necessarily a bad sound, it certainly isn't dead, but it isn't what I wanted. I'm a bit disappointed in that, but some others may prefer the darker tone.

The strings worked so well! I could not keep my hands off of them.. resulting in some blisters! Recommended.

2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings

Comments about Ernie Ball 2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

If you want great sounding strings, buy the 2002 Earthwood strings.
These strings sound great on my 310ce Taylor.
Whether unplugged or plugged in they sound great!
For not having a coating these strings hang around for awhile.
Great sound at a great price!

I search for the perfect strings...

Comments about Ernie Ball 2002 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I like a bright guitar, and these were just too dark in tone on my Tacoma JR55 Guild-sized jumbo six strintg with rosewood back and sides. (this all contributes to a dark tone to begin with...). Maybe the light gauge strings would have been a winner, but I was sufficiently unhappy with these that I cut them off within hours, and replaced them with D'Addario EXP 80/20 bronze light gauge strings. I was amazed at the difference, and loved the tone with the EXP's. The trouble is, the D'Addario strings just don't last that long. You get about a month of good tone, and then the bass starts to get muddy. These Ernie Ball strings sounded kind of muddy in the bass, right from the beginning. If you have a bright guitar, maybe they will be a winner for you. Also, for brightness, you might consider buying the light gauge instead of the mediums.

I'm a slammer who breaks alot of strings, I've tried many many different brands, Earthwood are the most durable breakage resistant strings I've found.

I bought my first set of Earthwood strings at a local music store, and I'm glad I did. They are the best strings I've ever used.
