Just Right

Comments about Ernie Ball 2230 Nickel 12-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

If you keep your electric 12 tuned to E (as opposed to D like many acoustic players) these are the ones to use. They're much easier to fret than a heavier gauge and have a bright, chimey sound that stands out.

Earnie Ball 12 Stirng Electric Set

By Mongo-G5t9Q

Comments about Ernie Ball 2230 Nickel 12-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I typically play my six string electrics with 9's and 10's. I originally put 9's on my 12 string electric. They were nice and stable, but a little stiff, so I decided to try a set of 8's on my Peavey Hydra double-neck. I am very happy with them. They stay in tune very well for such a light gauge. The difference in the action was very noticeable. It was no longer a chore to do barre chords or other type of runs. I would recommend them if your action seems too stiff. EB's are always a great sounding string anyway. I think you'd be happy with them.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2230 Nickel 12-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Ernie Balls are my electric strings of choice, so I was happy to see they made a very very light 12-string electric set. These are perfect for those of us with skinny fingers: the .40 E string is slender enough that there's no problem sounding the octave string. Perfect!

Still supporting a dying breed

By Donny-dc3G1

Comments about Ernie Ball 2230 Nickel 12-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

12 string electric players are a rare breed today, so its great that Ernie Ball still supports the few of us out there! I love the design of this package, it has a classic look that hasn't changed for many years (I saw a late '70s ad in guitar player and the packaging was the same!). This is the best set for 12 string electric that I've found, the light guage is great, maybe a little TOO light with the top 8s, but that's minor. The overall effect on my '66 Fender XII feels like you're playing a 6 string with a set of 10-46, which is how my 6 strings are set up. I've had these strings on my guitar for awhile and they still sound new and bright, I was surprised. The only problem that I have is that that Diaddario includes an extra 8 guage string in the pac because that's the one that breaks the most often. It hasn't happened yet, but I would hate to have to bust open a whole pack of strings to replace the one that always breaks. Plus, this set includes three 8 guage strings. One of these is bound to break first! Although this set is a little bit pricey, I've found them to be the best for my Fender XII and hope they continue to manufacture them in the future.
