Try the new and improved strings ideal for drop tuning.

Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are a perfect match for those who like chunky rhythms for rock and roll or blues. Power Slinkys have long been favored by Slash, Metallica and Kenny Wayne Shepherd due to the thicker gauge combination providing a slightly more powerful tone. The Cobalt Series is clearly an improvement on its classic nickel-wound counterpart giving the player increased sustain, clarity and output. In addition, they resist sweat and moisture better and have unmatched flexibility when compared to other nickel wound strings.

"Ernie Ball Cobalt Strings sound and feel better than anything I've ever played! You have to check these out!" - Slash.

All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and the most exacting specs to assure consistency, optimum performance and long life. Made in the USA.

Gauges: 11-14-18-28-38-48.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I tried these for a few months. Guitar players are always looking for something new and different. At first, I was over-the-top about them but grew tired of the tone they produce. I recently changed to EB RPS11's and have returned to a truly clear and recognizable tonal quality that I enjoy more. It all comes down to personal preferences and guitar players all have them. Try Cobalt strings for yourself and decide if you like the quality of their sound.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Quite simply, these strings brought my guitar even more to life. There was a NOTICEABLE difference! I have the 10 gauge on my Strat and my Schecter C1 Classic, and the 11 gauge on my Les Paul and my C-1 35th Anniversary. And let me tell you... they ALL sound better! I highly advise you try these!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I play in a metal band. I've played a lot of different strings, but keep coming back to power slink's. While I love the feel and sound, they were always good for a couple of practices and maybe a show or two. After which, I knew one of them was about to break and the sound just wasn't the same. I balked at the price of Cobalts but felt that longer life, if real, was worth it. I got ready for a mini tour (five dates) and strung on these bad boys. They lasted throughout two practices and all five shows without breaking, and only now is the sound a little more dull. This might not seem that rare to you, but trust me. No strings have ever made it through multiple shows with me. We thrash on them too hard. These babies rule. Well worth the extra cash.

I really like what they do to passive pickups. For me it tightend the sound up. Bass is more focused and mids come through better. However I tried them on my EMG equipped guitar and felt it thinned the sound out too much, however the Dunlop Heavy Core strings sound great with EMGs. Worth a try.

                    Best strings hands down...

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I have what one would call "swamp hands". I play both bass and guitar and used to play out with a local band on a semi regular basis. I love the bright sound of new strings and had to change them every show due to the grunge build-up I'd leave even after wiping them down.

After playing them for a considerable amount of time now (Month or so), I'd say that they are as bright and playable as the day I put them on.

It would take almost an act of God to make me ever switch to anything else.

                    Awesome strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I used to play DR Pure Blues and their coated strings, but I've been experimenting around with different brands and these strings might have me convinced to switch! The price just feels like a little too much, but if they last longer than the nickel wound strings it may be worth it for the enhanced sound.
These strings are a bit brighter than your standard nickels, and I can really hear the harmonics of every note I play. Can get a little tinny say on the bridge pickup of a Strat or Tele, but if you're buying these strings you should probably know how to use a tone knob by now. The lower strings feel a bit more pliable while still giving you that nice boomy sound that we all like from our Power Slinkys.
I haven't had these on my guitar for very long, but if anything it seems that they'll last a bit longer than regular old Slinkys before they get stiff and crappy. Very smooth to the touch, so far so good!
I really like the sound of these, but the price is a little steep for what you get.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2720 Cobalt Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

My only complaint is that they are kinda expensive the price of like two pairs of strings pretty much . Quality is excellent feel and sound great. I love em the y are so smooth and silky I can play even longer now .
Heavier gauge strings gives you a good beefy sound but are still easy to bend. The sound quality is good. Slightly brighter sounding then regular slinky's. You can actually hear the difference in tone. I noticed it when I was changing my strings and plucked an open string on the colbalt and then on the regular slinky. I think the feel of these strings is amazing, just super silky and smooth. Don't think you'll regret buying them.
I've haven't tried many different types of strings but these feel amazing and sound great . I'll be using these for now on. I was sold with regular slinky's but these are even better. They are pricey but the feel of these strings are like butter.
Kinda expensive but worth it. I think once they start selling the price should probably drop some. Then they'll really sell.

                    They're strings. No comments here.
Here's where the new strings shine. Honestly, when I first tried the new Cobalts, I didn't think that they felt any better, and that's good - I wanted them to feel like the regular purple pack I love. They are somewhat brighter in the beginning. I think you can actually hear more of a difference with passive pickups though.

Where I really like them is that they retain the brightness for quite a while. I have noticed that while these strings are more $, I am not changing them as much as before simply because I don't really think it's necessary. This is coming from someone who changed their strings at least once a month. Bottom line is that I believe they last longer.
At $10 a set, that might be a little higher.. I don't know if I would consider them to be 2X better than the standard strings @ $5, but they are better.
