Fool me once, shame on you Fender

Comments about Fender 7250-5M Super Bass Nickel-Plated Steel Long Scale 5-String Bass Strings - Medium:

After a lengthy search for my favorite strings I determined Fender was the way to go. The old ones had a a warm, sweet sound at any volume. They were easy to install. I could put on a new set on in less than 1/2 hour. Thirdly they had an acceptable string life to price ratio. I could get 3-4 weeks from a set & still get some rehearsal time out of them before they were no longer up to my expectations. When I saw these new strings advertised for the 1st time I was bowled over thinking "what a great deal"! They have the same description, word for word, of my favorite string & I'll save $8.00 per set! NOT!!! Fool me once...These are nothing like the strings that came in the colorful, attractive sleeve with the gorgeous Fender bass on it. They sound about as interesting as the "new" black sleeve with the big F on it. The F doesn't stand for Fender anymore. These strings are difficult to install at best. Very stiff. You may have to ask someone to help you keep them under control to get them wound properly. They no longer have the thread wound around the tapered end. Just bare wire. They sound 'ok' at 1st & go downhill quickly from there. You'll be lucky to get 2 gigs out of a set if you're a finger player, maybe more if you use a pick. Who is running Fender these days the U.S. Government??
