I recently put these strings on my Epiphone Thunderbird Pro Bass and they sound amazing! They feel great on the fingers; they sound great when playing with a pick or with your fingers, they simply are great flatwound strings. I will definetly buy these again in the future

I've been switching between these and D'Addario Chromes for the last five years. During this period, as well as playing the odd gig with my indie band, I have played hundreds of covers gigs in a variety of environments (including extremely high temperature and humidity). I've broken several of the Chromes, as they are wrapped on a small roundwound string to add brightness - I've never broken one of the Fenders.
The 9050Ms start off with a very bright tone; when using a pick and adjusting EQ to suit, you can get very aggressive tones if you want. Harmonics ring out beautifully if you do that Jaco thing, for example.
They're excellent strings if you have a short recording session, as they have good presence without being too bright and generating lots of string noise. I'm always done in under four hours, so there's never been a noticeable change in tone during recording.
They will eventually settle in & lose some of their harmonic overtones, but it does take a while. Once they do, you get access to all the good stuff - that fingerstyle Motown thing, Paul Simonon's flatwound punk, Roger Waters thumpy rock tone etc.
The only con I could think of is that they are relatively high tension - I like a good boat anchor, as I hit hard at times, but lesser men may prefer something a little softer ;)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I HAVE USED FENDER FLATS "105 E STRING" FOR OVER 50 YEARS. THEY WERE ON MY 64 P BASS WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. I USE A PICK AND AMPEG SVT 2 WITH THE NEW PRO NEO 4X10" CAB. WE WERE PLAYING A CLUB LAST WEEK WHEN A "HOT ROD STRAT" PLAYER ASKED ME HOW I MADE MY BASS SOUND JUST LIKE A UPRIGHT. THAT WAS AS GOOD OF A COMPLEMENT ON TONE AS A BASS PLAYER COULD RECEIVE. I OWE IT ALL TO 9050Ms ( MAYBE THE 64 P AND AMPEG HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT) I HAVENT PUT THE NEW STRINGS ON, JUST HOPE THEY ARE AS GOOD AS THE OLD ONES. My brother muttered something about wanting to take up the bass guitar so I bought him a cheap used Squier Affinity 4-string P-bass as his first bass to learn on. It desperately needed new strings and I thought he might like to start out with flatwound strings since they don't squeak. I was going to buy a set of D'addario Chromes when the search engine brought up these Fender strings. At the price they were priced right for a set of flats and the fact that they were made in USA appealed to me.
So, I bit.
When they arrived I put them on the bass. The first thing I noticed was that the E string took all but 1/8" of the small-diameter silk winding. If the string stretches much at all then tuning up will cause the fat part of the string to end up on the tuner post. The other 3 strings did not exhibit this problem.
Stainless steel strings are known for being bright, but these are quite trebley. The P-bass lacks the bottom end it had with the ancient strings I removed. Even setting the EQ for heavy bass tone yields only a moderately deep bass response. Not what I was expecting.
Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about. My brother is a beginner so he won't worry as much about tone as he does technique in the early phase of his bass playing, but I probably won't buy these again. I think they might be a good choice on any bass with a "mudbucker" pickup, such as an old Gibson EB0, EB3, or SG bass.
E-string was a bit too long. Otherwise, these appear to be well-made strings.
Price was outstanding.
