Comments about Fender Custom Shop '62 P Bass Pickups:

As an experienced musician, I had a sound in my head from many years ago, and was unhappy with the bass sound I had. I'd recently been playing in a heavy rock band and was using SeymoureDuncan's quarter pounder's which were fine for that job. Now I'm in a band playing everything from old timey blues, through classic rock to contemparary rock. The quarter pounders were just to thick. I tried several P bass replacement pickups to no avail, until I tried these custom shop 62's...... this was the sound I had in my head, just like my first early 60's bass. Yes, I was around then! Get some, you won't regret it

Comments about Fender Custom Shop '62 P Bass Pickups:

i replaced the pick ups in my 2013 American p bass with the custom shop 62s and I cant believe how close they sound to my original 59 p basses.this bass has become my main practice bass after these upgrades and will probably end up a main stage bass.i wish fender would make these standard in their new basses and I would not mind paying so much.

Comments about Custom Shop '62 P Bass Pickups:

Very good sound. I replaced the pickups in my Mexican precision and it sounds better than my American precision! Well worth the investment, very easy to install.

These pickups made a huge increase in tone. It helped volume also, but tone alone makes them well worth the investment. Easy installation also.

Comments about Fender Custom Shop '62 P Bass Pickups:

I've been playong bass for several years and always had a sound in mind, the old fashion Pbass sound. Some months ago I went to a music store and fell in love with the sound of a 3-tone sunburst American Standard Pbass with rosewood fretboard, not with the looks because I like maple, but the sound was awesome, and visually I fell in love with a mexican 2 tone sunburst with maple fretboard, I played both and listened to the different sound, the American with 60's custom shop pickups sounded OLD, just what I wanted, and the mexican with the standard pickups had a modern sound, bright and more responding to slapping, not what I was looking for, but hey, the american price was 1399.99 (with case) and the mexican 599.99 (without case), but I couldn't make a choice so I left. Two days after I went back and walk out with the mexican bass with a soft case at no charge (great deal by the way). Even though I was happy with the purchase I wasn't with the sound, so after several months with the modern sound I got the 62' Custom shop pickups and I have to say that I got the sound I was looking for, OLD FASHION Pbass sound, 599.99 +119.99 for the sound of a 1399.99, plus a tortoise shell pickguard, a thumb rest, the bridge cover, valyrian-steel flatwounds and the hipshot bass xtender I have the Pbass of my dreams (with maple fretboard) for 850. I really cannot speak of midrange or growl like other people because I find these terms to be very subjective, but what I do can tell, this pickup gives you the old times sound, the one that made me and many (if not the majority of) bass players fall in love with the bass.
