Blending Leo’s legacy with EJ’s modern discerning sonic tastes.

Fender’s R&D engineers worked closely with world renowned guitarist and tone connoisseur Eric Johnson to craft the perfect pickups for his uniquely articulate sound. Carefully blending Leo’s legacy with EJ’s modern discerning sonic tastes, these Strat pickups are a key element of EJ’s unmistakably pure tone.

Each pickup is unique in structure and performance. The neck pickup is based on a ’54 Strat pickup with oversized alnico 3 magnets. The middle pickup, based on a ’63 Strat pickup, uses specially treated alnico magnets and is reverse wound to cancel hum when used with the neck or bridge pickup. The bridge pickup uses alnico 5 magnets and is specially voiced to be hotter without sacrificing that sweet top end sparkle.

With slightly hotter output than typical vintage pickups and a powerful combination of magnets, these sonically potent and highly dynamic pickups produce the perfect balance of clean, dirty rhythm and lead tones to satisfy all level of players, through any amplifier.

Comments about Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Pickup Set:

I bought a Strat back in 2003 from a local music shop just because I loved the way it looked. The neck pickup and middle pickup were good but the bridge pickup really sucked. It had no bite, not tone, no anything. When Fender put out these Eric Johnson pickups I immediatly had to buy them for my Strat, which was a very smart purchase. I put them in my guitar, didn't have any midifications and used the original covers. Put new strings on it, tuned it up, and the sound blew me away! Made my guitar a completely different (and much better) guitar. I am very pleased with these pickups. I didn't actually buy them from Musicians Friend, (directly from Fender), but they don't have a review section on their website, so since I have bought alot from Musicians Friend, I thought I would go to bat for them with this review. If you are looking to replace your Stratocaster pickups, these are perfect for any style of playing you can give. Even if you aren't looking to replace your pickups, find someone that has them and play their guitar or give them a listen. You will be amazed!

Comments about Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Pickup Set:

These are very good pickups. I bought and installed two sets on each of two American made strat's. I've owned three EJ Strats and absolutely loved the tone on each and every one, but these pickups don't sound quite like those to my ears. These pickups seem a bit less chimey with a bit thicker tone. This suits the bridge pickup very well, not so much the neck pickup. Don't get me wrong, still fantastic sounding pickups! However, thought I'd turn my Am' Strats into EJ strats with 22 frets and locking tuners but it didn't really turn out that way (thus the 4 star rating).
