Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
this product is perfect for my needs and priced within my range, I have 3 different sizes
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
Needed a shallow rack for an audio interface and some mic pre's. SKB shallow rack was too shallow and the normal SKB was too deep. This Gator was the ticket. The tapped pieces of metal for the screws are useless. I used some SKB captive nut hardware instead. The supplied rack screws were crappy and soft. Overall though, I'm happy with the purchase. Build quality is fine. As good as SKB? No, but good enough and a great value for the price.
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
Do yourself a favor and buy an SKB case instead. I'll probably end up selling this case and buying an SKB case that is larger than what I really need but at least I will be getting a MUCH higher quality case.
This Chinese made Gator case is a so-so rack case. Nowhere near the quality of a U.S. manufactured SKB rack case. I had to settle for it though because SKB's closest equivalent was 1/2" short depth wise for my rack equipment needs.
This is a 3 space rack case with mounting rails both front and back. It should have come with a minimum of 12 screws for mounting three single space pieces of gear from the front. It came with 10. Six in front and 4 in back. What's really disappointing is that it didn't come with any nut clips. Instead each rail has a strip of metal behind it with tapped holes in it. And these pieces of metal are simply stuck to the back of the rails with what appears to be double sided Scotch tape. When you remove the screws the tape doesn't even hold the strips of metal in place.
The latches are very loose and of low quality. They are also installed wrong. On SKB cases the key portion of the latches are attached to the covers. On the Gator case they are attached to the rack itself which means they are free to vibrate and make noise. Since the latch keys on SKB cases are attached to the covers this is not a problem.
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
this is a great rack if you dont play bass. The hinges are badly designed, they are very loose against themselves when thier open. The vibrations from my 210 and 115 cab realy make this thing make noise, every G A and D vibrate the most. othewise very good rack.
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
I bought one of these a few months back and I was concerned about the "looseness" of the latches from the getgo. They got even more floppy with use. also, one of the handles is loose in the slots, causing it to slide to and fro, sometimes to the point that it comes loose on one end or the other!
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
This case is super light. I used to have the skb shallow but it was to short and the back panel was cheap. I preferred the gator shallow because i didnt want to lug around more case than i needed, and its the perfect length(not to long, not to short in depth). I have my racktuner, head and wireless in it. It is built very nicely. The shell and rack parts are top notch. The only lower quality part of this case is the latches. When tighten they are indestructible and create a good seal, but when loosened they begin to feel like they arent nice, but this does not bother me at all, because i am careful with my equipment and not careless and throw it around. I am very happy with my case. It also looks sick when your gear is in it sitting on top of your speaker cabs.
Comments about Gator GR ATA Shallow Rack Case:
I've had this 3 space unit for about a year or 2,and it has held up well. I don't beat my equip. up, but I do haul it around a fair amount. Latches are good quality. Easy to tell front from back. Very easy to access the back panels of your rack gear- unlike some units with a smaller view of the back side that makes plugging stuff in more difficult. Carries easily like a suitcase. My power/preamp weigh about 45 lbs and it handles the load.
