I have played a wide variety of string brands and gauges since I have been playing guitar and the Dave Mustaine Progressives are by far my favorite. I know some people complain about the gauge sizes but once you get used to them and give them some time you ll have no problem pulling off whatever kind of playing style you d want. I love having the extra tension for pinch harmonics as well I feel like I have more control over them. The reason I bought these is a was reading the gauges Marty Friedman uses and I have heard in the past that thicker strings can lead to warmer and fuller tones. I m not 100% these sound any warmer or fuller than the others I have played on, but they have the perfect feel for heavy riffs, harmonics, tapping, sweeping or whatever else you want to throw at them.

I've always used D'Addario EXL115W 11-49 guage. I've been playing a lot of Megadeth lately an decided I'd try some of these strings since I have the amp tone already nailed pretty well. These strings were a HUGE dissapointment. They sound muffled and flat on my Jackson. Plus, while the 52 guage low E string isn't a huge jump from what I usually use, it feels WAY bigger. I did give them a 4 for value becuase I usually pay around twice as much for a set of my usual D'Addario's locally and I figure these are proabably about the same so the discount you get makes them a petty decent buy. Other than the price, there's nothing good about these strings. To sum it up, they sound like strings that come on Wal-Mart guitars.

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

Being a Megadeth fan, I though't I'd go ahead and try these, and WOW is all I have to say...

Okay, so maybe I have a little more... lol
I've tried many different brands and sizes, and I honestly have to say that these are the best so far. I have had a problem with the G string (don't laugh... it's not funny! lol) snapping within a week in the past due to an old Floyd that honestly needs replaced... These strings made it over 3 months before it finally snapped... Definitely say that's a good thing.
And the tone with these things is phenomenal. It takes a little while to get adjusted to a heavier gauge, but it's definitely worth it even if you're not down tuning... which I rarely do.
Once I get some money, I'm ordering a few more packs! :)

In the photo, the DMS GHS's are on the left, and just a standard set are on the right. See how much larger they are?

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

Ok so i got my 3rd guitar about 3 months ago (dean vmnt) and it came stock with these strings all i have to say is they have the best feel and tone, i use to play either ernie balls or dunlop nickel wound basically whatever they had at the store i had buy but these strings are the best for some people that don't want to hurt their fingers on the steel strings thats come in this gauge. My favorite strings have to be these or the dunlop heavy core 10-48 both have great feel and tone.

Great strings for a great price

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

Don't listen to the jerk that felt he had to post twice how bad these strings were. Odds are if your filling your time "dialing in" someone's sound your a pretty lame musician. I've played with boomers for 10 years and once I switched to these the change was amazing. Strings don't make all that much difference to your sound but I will say, these ones seem to last longer and sound better in recording.

    Worst Strings EVER

    By pSxgzfsd9

    from Virginia

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

Mustaine is my favorite guitarist, and Megadeth is my favorite band by far, but these strings are TERRIBLE.After getting my amp dialed in and nailing the classic Rust In Peace tone, I decided against my better judgement to replace my usual D'Addario EXL115W strings with these. BIG MISTAKE.I don't know how the other reviewers can say these are bright strings. I'd probably get more resonance putting a shoe lace on my guitar than with these. The tone of these strings is muddy and flat. I'd use Ernie Ball's (which IMO aren't much better than these), before I'd use these strings again. I can't say for sure if all GHS strings are this bad since this is the first (and last), time I've used GHS, but based on these, I'll never use GHS strings again.Do yourself a favor and get some D'Addario's.

    Dave Mustaine Srings

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

I got a pair of these strings and put them on my main guitar three weeks ago and I must say these are probably some of the best strings I have ever owned. These strings are really bright and have really good tone. The gauges are really a good fit, but are not for everyone. The top strings are great for soloing while the bottom hold down the rhythym really well. They have excellent character and tone. I definately recommend these strings to anyone looking for a good bright tone, and "Heavy" sounding lows but top string bendability.

    Mega-Spiffy

    By Tim Seraphim

    from Illinois

Comments about GHS Dave Mustaine Signature Electric Guitar Strings:

I switched these strings from the Zakk Wylde GHS strings and I definitely noticed an improvement. The sound was brighter and the low E actually fit into the nut on my guitar. I personally find the low strings thick enough for a decent chug on palm muting but not too ridiculous. I've actually been able to do easier bends than with Zakk's strings. They sound great with or without distortion.
