This is the only commercial set that I have found with these unique specs. The 10.5 is interesting, although I could live with either a 10 or 11 - but the best part is the 30, 40, 50 on the low end. More common is the 28, 38, 48 - so it is helpful to have this mix available for the right person and/or need. I have battled my Gibson electrics for some time trying to keep their tuning as stable as my Fenders, and have tweaked various factors on the Gibson's - but these thicknesses and tension seems to be the final touch to getting them where I need. The shorter scale on a Gibson requires heavier strings to achieve the same level of tension as a Fender using lighter strings. I gave up a little of that slinky bendy feel - moving up from the stock Gibson 10's - but it is well made up for by being able to run a show with "normal" tuning tweaks - rather than tuning "issues".

As far as quality - they are quite good - no complaints. I have evolving brand preferences on strings, but as someone who has used various brands over the years - the truth is that all the major string brands have good quality in this day and age - if you are getting a fresh pack. Blindfold tests with different brands using same gauge, same style (stainless steel, Nickel etc) - we would all be hard pressed to tell the difference. So to me it is about the Features - such as - for my Fenders I prefer Bullets because I believe the Bullet end sits perfectly in the string-thru-body of Strats and Tele's. So for this set - the feature is the gauge - more important than the brand - but they do sound very good.

I would appreciate if they could go to a less wasteful packaging. Other brands have figured out how to differentiate whether it is the 1st string, 2nd string etc- without needing a separate pouch for each string.

Bottom line - very good strings - and I appreciate the thick bottom end. Thanks

Gilmore strings quality is consistent and seem to have a brighter physical appearance since they began using the foil packaging. These strings feel great under fingers and can withstand severe bends and don't break or go out of tune.

These are the perfect gauge strings for a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul. After I had bought 2 sets of other brand name stings I finally tried the David Gilmore Signature Series and cannot believe I didn't buy them first. If you own A Les Paul you need to rock these!! TRUST ME

        Preference

Comments about GHS GB-DGG David Gilmour Signature Red Set Electric Guitar Strings:

Sounds great. Good volume. I like the ballance of the gauges. Took a while to get used to it but it is my favorite now.
I use these strings on my Les Paul shaped guitar made by luthier Daniel Carbone. I have tried numerous other string brands and gauge configurations and like this one the best.
Don't last forever, but consistently last.

I use silicon based oil at the bridge and nut plus mineral oil on the strings to extend the life of the strings.
Great string. Great price here on MF

        The perfect set of strings...

        By paul czeresko

        from SC, USA

Comments about GHS GB-DGG David Gilmour Signature Red Set Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings meet a need that was previously unsatisfied, they are fairly priced, and they last a long time. I'm very impressed.
I mean, there aren't many "features" a set of strings can have, but these do answer all the issues I was having with other sets. The Gilmour 10.5 strings are really solid-feeling on the bottom and playable on the top without feeling weak. They work well between standard and drop C. Any lower than than and they get a bit floppy, but what everything has limits.
I've trusted GHS for many years now and these share the same quality as the rest of the range. They sound new for much longer than any other brand I've used.
Considering I was previously mixing and matching, these are a steal. They aren't much more expensive than a regular set of boomers.

The best-sounding strings i ever used

        By Alex Gumangan

        from Philippines

Comments about GHS GB-DGG David Gilmour Signature Red Set Electric Guitar Strings:

The strings sound good, especially if you placed the pickup selector switch on the 4th position on a clean channel, i can't describe it but it sounds awesome
the only feature here is the fact that this is one of the 2 string sets that David used on his Black Strat and Les Paul Goldtop
The quality's good, it looks like it can last for years before breaking. But that's just me
The value isn't that bad for the price.

        Big sound.

Comments about GHS GB-DGG David Gilmour Signature Red Set Electric Guitar Strings:

I was first very impressed with the way these strings sounded and felt. Used them for a les paul custom, and the sound is big, bright, detailed and musical; great indeed. The gauge is a little peculiar on this set, because of that slight thickness on the high E string, takes a little time to get used to, but it makes perfect sense for me, as it does make the balance in terms of volume a little bit better. Only downside is they didn't last too long and broke the b string within a month, a week later the high E broke too. For the price it can get pretty expensive if you use it year round.

Excellent strings - typical GHS quality like the regular Boomers I've used for years. No big difference except the gauges from regular GHS sets. More money for DG's name is all.

        GHS can't be beat

        By Deafcat 64

        from WV

Comments about GHS GB-DGG David Gilmour Signature Red Set Electric Guitar Strings:

Strings are really a matter of taste. For me GHS makes the best strings out there. I used to use GHS "Big Core" strings. Then they changed them to "Santana Signature Series" and raised the price but they were still worth the money. The David Gilmour sets are excellent strings. I play at least a couple hours every day, and they last quite a long time. GHS have always kept their tone longer for me than any other strings. The guages in the red set are excellent as well. I personally don't care for the guages in the blue set but that is just my taste.
