I've been playing live for close to 20 years and have played every brand string imaginable. Boomers are by-far the most reliable strings for gigging. I find them to be a little brighter than D'Addario and Ernie Balls, but they are way more durable. For recording, I use D'Addario XL's (just an overall better tone - in my opinon), but live, Boomers are the only way to go. If you're playing a fixed bridge, use whatever you want, cause if you break a string, you can typically recover, but if your playing any type of floating trem, you need the realiable durability that only Boomers will provide.

good budget strings, but they dont stay in tune as good as high end strings, and the tone is a bit dull for my taste. the highs are decent, the mids are nice, but the low notes are dull. its fine for metal rythem chugging i suppose, but for lead you may be dissapointed when playing the bigger strings, especially past the 9th fret and it gets worse the higher you go. they are tough and last long, but whole step bending and beyond can sometimes require tuning tweaks, tremolo action worsens this problem. good buy for the price i suppose, but i would reccomend spending a little more and getting a lot more, like elixirs or d'addarios.

I've used these strings since I started playing. I've tried a few other brands but none have compared to the pop that these strings give. And in the three years I've been playing I've only broken 1 high E. How's that for quality?

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I've always used a light guage string and my B and G string just couldn't cut the tone I wanted until I started using these strings , Now its RIGHT when I go up two notes and the sound I love even more than before , sure the guage is thicker ,but thats whats what my tone needed ,before I worried about a sour note ,now it rings loud ,sustain WOW I play a Fender and wonder why it took me so long to pick up a pack of these strings and try , I will be using these from now on, Hey give it a try for a few bucks and see , the low E string has the deep bass tone ,and the high e string is bright and sings like a bird if you like birds that is, Thanks GHS and musicians friend for letting us guys write reviews this is a big factor in selling anything.

This is my first set of GHS strings, and I am very pleased! Great quality & price. Most places I checked (locally) wanted two to three times the cost listed here for a set.

PS: My reason for this choice is because these are the strings that Ben Kasica (former lead guitarist of Skillet) used for his drop D guitar lol.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

Once in a while, I fool myself into thinking that there has to be better strings with all the technological hype of some of these companies. False. No other brand of strings comes close to the Boomers. They last a very long time, have killer tone, and add volume by at least a few dB. I've started to buy these strings in bulk since there's nothing else on the market that can beat these things.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

What a surprise I had stringing up my Stratocaster with a set of GHS Boomers. I'm sort of a tone freak and I'm always looking for a way of tweaking my tone. The GHS Boomers produce a sweet well rounded sound and a bit of a mid range boost without harsh high frequency "ice pick" tone that some of the other famous brands can produce. Tone wise all five positions of the pickup selector switch are more usable than ever. They retain their tone after many hours of playing and seem to be very durable. I do a lot of string bending and tremolo, so far no complaints with tuning problems or string breakage. I wish I would have tried GHS years ago. SRV used them, I now use them, you should give them a try.

GHS Boomers Strings are Always Awesome.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

Boomers are some of the best strings on the market for daily use. They hold a tune and are fast strings. Easy on the fingers and keep their tonal quality for an extra long time. I've had them on a guitar that was sitting for over a year and they still played awesome, and tuned right up.
I have always used Boomers on my Fender guitars over the past 30 years. They never disappoint. They start out extra bright when new and after a couple of weeks they warm up more to a beautiful tone, and last a long time. I use 10's because I do a lot of string bending, and I haven't broken one yet. The standard pick ups on Fender guitars just like Boomers. They have a great coating on them too.
The clear coating lasts forever and they hold a tune great too. I rarely have to retune aside from the normal tweak now and then from string bending. But they don't break and keep thier smoothness longer than others I have tried.
Boomers are always affordable and reasonably priced, even for the beginner.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I am accustomed to using the Zakk Wylde Boomers which are great strings(they are Boomers, after all) and nice and HEAVY. My friend got a set of D'Addario Lights and when I played his guitar, naturally, the difference in gauges felt weird and I had a bit of trouble playing. I broke a string and was in need of a quick set to hold me over until I could get more ZWGB's and I got these. It took a small bit of getting used to, but these just feel better than the D'Addarios did. And, as many others have said, very fun to play with GREAT pinch harmonics.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I've used primarily D'Addarios XL for years and finally switched to these for the following reasons: (1) they break in fast and keep in tune even when brand new through tons of bending, (2) they sound better - more lively with a smidge less low end, but much richer mid and high tones where the guitar sound lives ,(3) the feel of these strings are terrific and (4) more sustain. To me it was a no brainer.

I need guitar strings that don't sound wimpy. When I plug into my amp I need to have a sound with punch and Boomers deliver. And despite it being a light string set, it still delivers where I need it the most. These strings have been a lifesaver for my sound and they were the "missing link" to it.

I will definitely buy these strings again and it will probably be 10 sets of Boomers next time!

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I'm primarily a jazz and blues guy, with some classic rock on the side. Everyone touts pure nickel strings for these types of music, but the dirty little secret is nickels don't have the bass volume and warmth as nickel over steel. So I'm a big fan of these for jazz though GHS doesn;t market them that way. Too much treble you say? Turn down the treble EQ on guitar or amp. The net here is that these strings really stay in tune, sustain for ever, and have a rich, punchy tone. They work well on all my guitars.

These strings are really great. They stay in tune better than most and sound awesome. I play some wild, hard stuff, and after a few weeks the bottom E string likes to break right in the middle of a song, but it's not that bad. Most of the time my strings aren't old enough to break, so that's not really a big deal. Overall, I think these strings are really awesome.

Comments about GHS GBL Boomers Light 010 Electric Guitar Strings:

I don't understand why these strings are not rated better on this site. For a long time, I was experimenting with strings brands to find which was right for me, and the problem I kept running into was (because of my extremely corrosive sweat) that anything I tried got really rusted and lifeless after only a couple weeks. I have a very elitist approach in my playing, so I demand only the best out of myself and gear and I found that perfection in these strings. I use them for months at a time and they always feel as smooth and crisp as the day I put them on. I will be putting these babies on my guitars for years.

I started playing on Boomers well over 20 years ago, and loved them from the first. I tried many other brands, D'Addario, Ernie Ball, Markley, Fender, all the others, and they all pale in comparison. Boomers start out bright and full and LAST! I'm pretty hard on my strings and sweat like a monster onstage, and the Boomers have never failed me. The tone doesn't die in a day or two like other brands can, and for me they just deliver. Best rock guitar strings ever!
