After trying a few different brands and gauges of strings over a five year period I have finally found the perfect brand/set of strings for playing in C# and drop-B tunings. I started out playing Ernie Ball sets on a 25.5 scale guitar in standard tuning but when I began experimenting with down-tuning I found the EB sets to be lacking in tone and definition the lower I tuned my guitar not to mention constantly breaking my low E string. When I switched to playing a 24 3/4 scale guitar in C# and drop-B I had to start looking for a new set of strings because the EB "not even slinky" sets I had been using just were not cutting it. I tried Dean Markley Blue Steel .13's with a wound 3rd string and found the top strings to be cumbersome and the low .56 still not heavy enough for dropping the low E to B. I went to every single music shop in town looking for a light top/extremely heavy bottom set and I finally ran across the GHS .10 - .60 set on sale, two for the price of one. Perfect! These strings last forever. If you use some GHS Fast Fret on them they keep their tone better than any other brand of string I've tried and I have yet to break a string in the year or so I've been using the GHS .10-.60 sets. The tone is fantastic and they sound great on a mahogony/maple body guitar with EMG pickups. It does take some getting used to the difference in string gauge between the low and high strings but it didn't take me long to learn to adjust my pick attack for the lighter strings on the top end. If you know how to set up your guitar for heavy gauge strings get 'em and go to town! If not I would highly recommend you take your guitar to a guitar/music shop and have it set up by a pro. Oh, for you kids out there: these strings are NOT meant for standard tuning and they will not make you sound like Zakk Wylde but they might make you a better guitarist if used as intended. I now use GHS strings on all my electric guitars.

I wanted to experiment with Robert Fripp's "New Standard Tuning" since I'm in a progressive rock band, and these work perfect! The tuning is C-G-D-A-E-G and these feel like normal 10's in "Old Standard Tuning", good strings!

As a guitarist of 16 years, I've been through a lot of strings, and these are hands down the best I've ever come across. I never lose tone, even in the deepest bends, the harmonics are beautiful, not to mention a set will last me a good couple of months before they start to even begin to sound flat. Definitely the best. In my book, anyhow.

I bought these strings at the store the other day. Came home, slapped them on my washburn, all the while thinking how cool it is that I finally get a pack of these strings. Zakk Wylde's custom design right? Supposed to be a killer pack, created by the man. Wrong! although I didnt have to cut the nut, once I got these tuned and strummed my first note my ears almost bled. These strings WILL suck EVERY BIT OF TONE from your sound. I tried. I really did. The high 3 strings have a beautiful sound. nice, crisp, rings like a bell. The lower 3 strings are horrible. They're extremely thick, I had to lower my action A QUARTER OF AN INCH to be able to press the strings (this is coming from a veteran bass player, and someone who plays beefy and power slinkys all the time). These strings make my sound muddy and sloppy, not to mention the first day or three where you cant slide your hands over them without a squeal coming from the strings (usually a good thing, but not this time). Do not buy these strings!

i wanted the slipknot tuning B-F#-B-E-C#-G# well they are great best tone ever last forever might want to adjust your guitar springs, neck, ect. so much tension best strings ever they are all I buy!!!

I love these strings! With out a doubt the best but I put them on an Ibanez and then tried them on my Jackson R.R.3 which has a floyd and you can't put these strings on a floyd rose it is way to much pressure for the guitar. So make sure you put them on a sustainer/stoptail not floyd rose.

I started using these strings back in february when i'd only been playing for about a year and a half and i have to say that they helped me pick up playing fairly easy. They are so much easier to play on then little 9 gauge strings. They sound great drop tuned. I would recommend these to anyone that plays any type of heavy metal or rock.

I recently put these strings on my Schecter Gryphon. I used to use 10-52's but these 10-60's are so much tougher and better. I play them in Drop B tuning and get hardly any buzz. You WILL have to file the nut for these to fit. The only complaint I have about these strings is that I would rather have the 60 a bit thicker. But, that's why the 11-70 set is for, and I will be trying those after these get old. Great job, GHS and Zakk.

I bought these strings for drop tunings because I don't have a baritone or any money to buy one. So I put them on my guitar and the sounded great! I put my guitar in Drop C when I got them its was so easy to play with them on. They also tune great in standard. There are only two not problems but hindrences with these strings one is that when in standard or drop D they float real high of the neck but play with them for awhile and you'll get a lot of finger strengh form playing with them. And two you probably will have to gring down your nut a little bit to fit the sizes.

Just to clarify, to use these strings you need to have STRONG FINGERS and balls to play at standard tuning. I currently use them dropped a step and a half at standard and drop d. This is about as low as you can go without the higher strings going floppy. If you want to drop lower than this, then I suggest you go with 12s or 13s.
