I've had this for a few weeks. It strengthens the attack on the bass drum, but it makes it almost sound like your hitting a piece of plastic. I use the felt side of my beaters, and they're alright. Using the plastic side, it sounds like clicking plastic with some bass. I wouldnt recommend this patch unless you play speed metal and use the plastic side of the beater so that each note is pronounced. It might sound better with a new head, considering mine is still stock, but it made the sound a little worse, so idk about that. The only thing I like is the strengthended attack. I hope to replace this with an Evans patch soon.

I bought one thinking the extra weight extra protection. Outer layer ripped and started falling off after four gigs. Plastic underlayment started double slapping. Needed something fast and thinking I could not wait with this sound I got another one at a local store. Placed new pad on and this time I got two gigs done before it started breaking down and leaving a residue on my DW 9000 beaters. I have over 126 gigs set up for 2014 so far so I need my bass pad to last. More weight equals a heavier plastic slap sound not more protection. I have used EVANS double before and it outlasted the bass head. I am buying EVANS from now on.
It is your money and your time and as I see it spend a little more now and save a lot later.

Short timer...

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

Sounded good when I got it. Had a real good punch sound to it with a felt beater. After a month though it started to fall apart. The black plastic coat started to crack then one of the aluminum plates fell out while I was at band practice and luckily not a gig. I have an evens felt pad on my other set and that has held up over a year. Im actually waiting for the head to give up before that pad does.

    gibraltar click pad

    By disturbed drummer254

    from hammond, la

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

I wouldn't wast my money on this. I just bought this product, the other day. Even after I cleaned the bass drum head very good, securely placed it, and started playing, it fell off. I had to use some GORILLA GLUE so I wouldn't fall off. After all that, you can't hear the click over the snare and ride when you start to play drum beat. SAD...

I am returning back to drumming and finding the "sound." This impact pad (with metal disks) greatly increases the projection of the bass. To me, much better than non "clicker" pads.

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

Ive been drumming for 8yrs. and Ive been using this click pad for the past 4yrs. No other click pags on the market can even COMPETE in the same league. Yes, the adhesive doesn't last very long, but duct tape makes it even sound better. Gibraltar makes the important products for the important drummers at important great prices.

This is an ok impact pad I play heavy and death metal I wouldn?t recommend this for any heavy players but for jazz yeah. I got the Aquarian impact pad still haven?t used it yet but I know its better try getting that one.

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

Well I bought one of these about two months ago, it worked fine for about a month. Then it started to come off and the pad started to wear, so I put ducktape around the outside part where the pedal doesnt impact. It kinda gives it a more punchy sound. Now after 2 months its really getting worn I'm sure it will tear at the impact points. From other experiences I will go with an aquarian impact pad.

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

i love this click pad, ive had it once, then got a new head and didnt get another pad, but i just recently got another one. it sounds great, just like you hear on triggered death metal kits. the secret on getting it to stick is to hold it there and press it very hard onto the head for a while, and make sure it is secure, it worked for me after it fell off my first try putting it on

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

I bought this pad thinking it would be an awsome double kick pad but gibraltar isnt joking when they say there are metal plates inside the pad! When i installed it and tested it out it sounded like kicking a wall. All you hear is the sound of you kicking metal...tap..tap..tap...i would suggest using this as a noice muffler for your bass drum.

Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad

          By Michael Beaulieu

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

This pad just rocks! I love the way it sounds and stops the un-controllable bounce back. Recently I bought the Aquarian version and ended up ripping the Aquarian off and put the Gibraltar back on and no it did not fall off. I always clean head with rubbing alcohol before sticking on any pad. I also use Evans EMAD and have never had any problems with these pads falling off. I actually roll it with roller after I stick it on. No complaints here.

This thing sucks. It sticks fine to the head but after two weeks of playing the skin separated, fell off, and eventually I cracked the clicker pad too. I went through four of them in two months. Don't waste your money.

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

I thought this would just be a slightly stronger kick pad/patch, for protection of head and a more defined kick sound. In fact, the sound produced by this pad is more or less like hitting a rolled up newspaper with a stick. Very cheap and trashy. I cannot think of a single setting that this would be appropriate as a main kick sound. Even crappy genres like punk and speedmetal need a real bass sound most of the time, and this doesnt produce one. Stear clear of this unless it will be used on a secondary bass. www.merlincoryell.vze.com

          not good

          By the godfather

          from phoenix AZ

Comments about Gibraltar Double Bass Drum Impact Pad:

When i bought this product i thought it would make a pleasent Vinny Paul style clicking noise. I stuck it on an EMAD head with a Starclassic Performer Birch bass drum, and it sounded terrible. The drum lost all its tone, it did not produce a good sounding click, it sounded like taking the plastic side of the beater and hitting it against a wall. My band stopped playing and asked me what that awful noise was. This sounds terrible, i would not recomend buying it.
