Comments about Gibson ABR-1 Guitar Bridge:
Awhile back I bought a sweet old Washburn J6S big-bodied Jazz guitar. I needed to replace the wooden compensated bridge with some sort of "tune-o-matic" to be able to adjust harmonics precisely. I assumed the Gibson ABR-1 would be the best choice. Bought it. It rattled (retainer wire and saddles) and the tone was disappointing. Replaced it with a GOTOH tune-o-matic that cost less. Better, brighter tone with no rattles!
Comments about Gibson ABR-1 Guitar Bridge:
I bought this to replace the bridge on my 1989 SG that had developed a rattle. After installing it I found that the retainer wire rattled worse than the old one. A very expensive lesson. I installed the Tonepros avr2 no problems. Don't waste your and money on this part.
Comments about Gibson ABR-1 Guitar Bridge:
A lot of people prefer the Nasheville bridge better. These are great pieces. When you buy it though its not going to come ready to play out of the box. you have to cut slots for the strings and maybe even cut down on the size of the saddle to match the fret board profile. If you don't do this then you'll have problems like the guy before me was talking about with buzzing.
Comments about Gibson ABR-1 Guitar Bridge:
...BUT it will not interchange with the Nashville Tune-O-Matic. The studs and stud mounting devices embedded in the guitar body are different sizes (Nashville is larger diameter). So if you are thinking of swapping out a Nashville TOM for an ABR-1 you have some additional work ahead of you.Other than that, it is a nice genuine Gibson replacement part for those with ABR-1 already installed. Good quality, but always overpriced.
Comments about Gibson ABR-1 Guitar Bridge:
The "b" string buzzed at the bridge and could not stop it. Had to send it back. The high "e" string also had slight buzz that couldn't be stopped. This was because of looseness on the slides.
