There's actually a lot to know about picking the right pickup bindings (aka mounting rings or pickup surrounds). From choosing the right style, color, angle and height to getting the correct mounting screw hole pattern that matches your guitar exactly, this is sometimes better left to your favorite guitar tech.
You should consider whether you need arched or flat bindings, as many bindings have a slight arch so you don't crack them when you tighten them down on an arched top guitar, like many Les Pauls. All this makes buying the correct binding somewhat difficult for the unknowing.
Also, it is important to get the correct screw lengths and head shape that fit the binding. The tall lead pickup bindings on a Gibson LP often require both long and short length screws, whereas the neck binding takes four shorter length screws. However, all eight binding screws on a Gibson SG Standard are all the same shorter length.

I bought this to replace some stripped screw heads on the screws that were currently holding my neck pickup ring to my Les Paul. When screwing in one of the long screws, the screw broke! Now I have the broken screw shaft stuck in the body of the guitar with no shaft showing above the wood surface. I have no idea how I am going to repair this now without damaging the top under the humbucker ring. Major disappointment in the quality of the hardware that was provided!
See Quality Issues. Fixing the issues that happened will cost far more than the cost of the POS screws!
