I ordered these to replace the plastic bridge pins that came with my Martin Acoustic/Electric (Custom X Series) guitar. The stock pins were alright, but I couldn't understand why a Martin would come with plastic pins. One of the pins was chipped when they arrived, and MF replaced them no problem - the new set was in my hands in less than a week. They fit perfectly with a new set of Martin Marquis M1100 strings, and they look and sound awesome in my guitar.

These are great because unlike real bone or even wood pins, they have no dead spots that you will hear in the sound. I've always loved real bone pins because they have a warmer sound, but since these are synthetic there is no way for that same sound to be replicated. These are very close, and are more consistent. They look nice without being too gawdy. I've got 3 sets of these. I gave 5 stars because they never claim to sound warmer than bone and I knew they wouldn't.

Well, I was excited to try them, but I ordered the wrong ones. Turns out they make two variations, and it wasn't obvious to me concerning which ones to order, so naturally I would order the wrong ones cause you got a 50-50 chance, and I have never won anything! I have a Taylor guitar, and I needed the pins that are tapered straight up to the top of the pin, rather than the ones that have a lip or knurl around the top. The ones that are straight with no lip are commonly referred to as Martin pins (also fit Taylor), but, I didn't know all of this when I ordered them. SO, hope this helps someone order the correct pins for their guitar.

I bought these black/pearl tusk pins to brighten up my Epiphone DR-500MCE (Solid Mahogany cut away acoustic/electric) guitar. And the pins fit perfectly and look very good! My acoustic had wonderful tone but was a bit dark and muddy, and closed in tone, and I wanted it to be just a bit brighter and clearer, and more open sounding. These tusk pins INSTANTLY corrected this condition.I must emphasize that the change in tone was INSTANT.They are great pins if you need to brighten up an otherwise moody sounding guitar..Bottom line is..THEY WORK!

The Tusq pins definitely made a positive difference to the sound of my Martin D35. To my ear, my guitar sounds slightly clearer and there's a more satin character to its voice. I'll soon be looking into the Tusq bridge.

I popped these into a relatively inexpensive Yamaha FG730S and the result was a subtle but noticeable sonic improvement. The tones are now a bit richer and, importantly, more uniform across the neck. Definitely an upgrade to one of the better entry level instruments. Now I am thinking of going tusq for the bridge and nut. This is a big bang for the buck.

They are afordable and function perfectly as well as look and feel nice. They can only help your instrument sound it's best.
The material in these have the right density which is audible after you change up.

I would never have though that changing the pins on my Taylor would add so much fuller tone and sustain! The guitar already has Tusq bridge and saddle along with solid tuners, so there is not much you can do to improve the sound. Throw away those plastic pins, Bob Taylor, and install these Tusq pins from the factory!

All six pins were well finished and completely identical
For what they do to the tone of my Taylor, the are well worth the cost!

I had been looking for a bridge pin for my Epiphone Masterbuilt dr500mce to bring out the harmonics with out making the sound too bright. I tried Bone, fwi, and buffalo horn. They all changed the sound for the better but did not give me the sound I wanted. I ordered a set of tusq last week and just put them in last night. They did the trick. These pins sound like a toned down bon and worked out great for my needs.
