I purchased 2 of the 1/4" wide saddles for my vintage Gibson guitars. I have a 1969 Gibson Country Western and a 1966 Gibson B-25. Both of them had the wood adjustable saddles which look better than they sound. I replaced both with the 1/4" Graph Tech TUSQ saddles and the sustain and volume are so much better. It just takes a little time and a good set of files. I was able to get really close on the intonation and the width was perfect right out of the package. If you have an old guitar and want to improve the sound, this is a big help. There is no modification to the guitar and the original saddle can be installed in just a few minutes.
The 1/4" width is super.
The sustain and volume is significantly improved.

Let me start by saying when it comes to my tone I am picky and unsatisfiable. I bought one of these to make a saddle for a Gibson Song Writer Deluxe 12 String that had poor string to string balance with the factory installed LR Baggs tranducer. While unplugged the tone improved a slight bit (a tad brighter). But...the tone improved big time when I plugged it in. The bass from the low strings sounded bigger and the highs from the trebble strings became more chimey. I got the bottom nice and flat by sliding it back and forth over sand paper on top of a glass table, now the string balance is perfect which makes a huge difference in the sound. This little piece of TUSQ made my guitar sound like a studio worthy guitar when plugged in no kidding ! This is one product that actually does what it says!

I upgraded the plastic saddle on my inexpensive Rogue acoustic with a TUSQ saddle. Carving the 1/8" blank to the proper shape and height wasn't difficult. This TUSQ saddle virtually doubled the volume of this guitar, my beater and camping guitar. It also improved the tone (fuller and richer). I also replaced the pins with TUSQ pins. In contrast to the saddle, the pins didn't change the volume but evened out the string-to-string response. The saddle had the biggest impact.
