TUSQ XL offers vintage looks and permanent lubrication.

The TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut (PQL-6060-00) is a superior replacement nut for Epiphone guitars.

Finally, the breakthrough you've been waiting for. Now you can have it all - the great tone of TUSQ, classic good looks AND permanent lubrication. If you love the look of a vintage white nut, but you keep going out of tune when you bend strings or use your tremolo, then TUSQ XL is just what you need.

TUSQ XL is designed to boost guitar tone and performance. This precision engineered nut is made with a specially formulated material which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and brings out the hidden harmonics and richness in every note. It is based on the highly resonant TUSQ man made ivory, but is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of the guitar.

If you have an acoustic or vintage guitar, you owe it to yourself to hear the difference a TUSQ replacement guitar nut makes. Compared to standard materials such as bone, Micarta or Corian, you'll hear more harmonics with every note you play when you use TUSQ on your guitar.

TUSQ is a proprietary material that is precision engineered under high pressure and heat. It is specifically formulated to deliver the right frequencies with the optimum transfer rate to the top of your guitar every time. Because of the way TUSQ replacement guitar nut is made, it is a consistent material that is rich in tone and harmonic content.

TUSQ guitar parts have quickly become an important tone performance tool for some of the world's most renowned guitar manufacturers, luthiers and playing professionals. TUSQ nuts and saddles have rich tone and sustain, without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ replacement guitar nuts are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body. Acoustic guitars come alive. Electric guitars will get a brighter sound and increased harmonic content.

Features

  • Has a crystal clear-bell like high-end and big open low-end
  • Laboratory-proven to enhance harmonic content (up to 200% over other materials)
  • Engineered for maximum vibration transfer
  • Permanent lubrication
  • Used by the world's finest guitar manufacturers
  • Consistent quality from piece to piece and within each piece
  • No flat or dead spots that can be found in bone or ivory
  • Easy to work with – can be filed and sanded; will not chip or flake

Don't just fix your guitar – improve it!

I have been having some tuning issues with my Epiphone G310 SG. I figured I would replce the stock plastic nut with this graph tech tusq and save some money, instead of replacing tuning keys. It took about 20 minutes and was very easy to install. I tuned up, checked my intonation, and couldnt believe how much of an improvement this was. Incredible tuning stability, richer harmonics, and my tone seems more clear and pure. I can finally play more aggresive and use full bends without the worry of going out of tune.

Tusq nut

Seemed to brighten the sound on the guitar. Definitely has more sustain.
Quality seems very good. Much better than the factory nut installed on my Hagstrom Swede.
It only required minor fitting

I replaced the stock plastic nut on my Epiphone Wildkat with this. This is better. Brighter. More
sustain. Didn't take much sanding to make it right.
I've got a couple more Epis and as soon as possible I'll be putting these nuts on them.

I had open fret buzzing problems and truss rod adjustments didn't make any difference. After searching online, I read a lot of good things about Tusq replacement nuts. When the Tusq arrived and I compared it to my old plastic nut, the high E string slot on the old nut was cut much too low, which turned out to be the cause of my buzzing problem. Since installing the Tusq, I've been able to lower the action, and my SG plays really well.

              My guitars have new nuts

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut:

Cant compare it to bone because I've never used it.
I changed over to Tusq nuts on my Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Ibanez SAS36 and a Squire Jagmaster. Its not an easy job but definitely worth it. You will need to sand it down to get it to fit as snug as possible and getting the old one off an Epi or Ibanez takes patient work with an Exacto knife. You might even have to shim it up a bit to make the same string height. If this seems difficult dont do it. You can screw up the headstock on your LP. (fender/squiers are easier) If you make the upgrade try this. Take the old nut and drop it on something soild. Then do the same with the tusq. The cheap plastic ones drop with a thud. They're totally lifeless because they're hollow (yes even on the higher end Epi LP). When you drop the tusq it pings because its solid.
Invest some time and a few bucks. I've spent more for less.

              Pretty neato

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut:

I replaced the cheap plastic nut on my import guitar with one of these. Fit pretty well after a bit of sanding, and the difference was very noticeable. Without nut sauce the guitar came back to pitch better after using the jazzmaster-like trem. Even doing some aggressive bends couldn't get it really out of tune. Good stuff.

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut:

All sides absolutly plumb and square, minor fine sanding of the ends to get a nice flush fit to the neck. Properly presloted.
Easiest guitar nut replacement I've ever done! Overall tone is improved, too.

              Better Than Bone!

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut:

Never gave 10 on all catagories but these tusq nuts deserve all the praise.
Easier to work with than bone. No special tools required. Used them on my two Electra Les Paul copies. Sanded down to size and it was easy.
Keeps my guitars in tune and the sustain and tone have improved
It saved my guitars which suffered from low cut bone nuts and tuning issues. Great product!

I belive I will upgrade the nuts on my other guitar with this too.
This nut is great. I loved the fact that when i pulled it out of the package and just looked at it I could tell the quality was much better then the stock nut that came with my Ephipone Les Paul Custom. This nut increased the tuning stability, and harmonics by leaps and bounds.
Like I said this is much better quality then the stock. Its built like a rock, but much more useful.
For the price its the best upgrade I've ever made.

              Easiest upgrade there is

              By Jon-K40pf

              from Indiana

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4" Epiphone Slotted Nut:

This was the easiest, least expensive upgrade I could have possibly made to my guitar, and it paid off. Sustain is better, tuning is MUCH more stable, and tone is much livelier than with the stock plastic nut on my Epiphone G-400 custom. It literally took me 20 minutes to remove the old nut, and fit and then glue in the new one. My main reason for getting it was to improve tuning stability, but the improvement in tone was much more significant than I was expecting. Definitely a must for any guitar with a cheap plastic nut.
