A music stand with advanced technology.
The BS301B EZ Clutch music stand is proof that even gear as essential and basic as a music stand benefits from advancing technology. Hercules totally nails it, offering a stand with several handy features.
First off, it has a desk with an upper half that folds down when not in use, utilizing a side locking pin to keep it firmly closed. When you're ready to play, simply press the pin to open the desk back up and lock it in position with the clip on back.
Then there is the EZ Angle Roller, which is equipped with a special frictioning rubber that holds the desk at the perfect angle while also being instantly adjustable. A simple push of the Quik-N-Easy Retainer's lever up or down makes it possible for instant desk mounting and dismounting. The same is true for the EZ Clutch which lets you adjust the height of the upper tube with the same simple lever push action.
The tilting base lets the music stand angle from 90 to 75 degrees, to reach positions more suited for your needs. It's swivel legs fit around other equipment, perfect for crowded stages. Simply pull up on the locking ring for compact packing. Last, but not least, the legs have 2 peg holes for adding an optional instrument peg so you can store your instrument when not in use, or a second instrument without taking up any extra floor space.

purchased sight unseen. excellent stand. the best. solid, adjustable. sturdy. you'd have to work hard to accidentally knock this one over in a performance. definitely not like the flimsy ones.

Very heavy. I like the instrument pegs. However, the stand does not come apart easily, and I find I have to use pliers to get it to come apart by losening the gears.

Really heavy-duty stand. Legs fold up tight and the ability to fold the stand in half is super convenient. The stand is so stable I bought a 2nd one to use as a stand for my compact mixing board.

So, in my book the value is great...of course I would always like to pay less, but understand why this stand costs more than its competitors!
I've gone through a number of the "conductor" type folding stands, which are all heavy, clumsy, and don't last very long. I went looking for something better and came across this VERY portable music stand. I knew I would get a "tough" stand, with the Hercules brand, as I have several of their sax stands that have stood the test of longterm use without a hitch.
What I didn't realize when I first ordered it was that this stand also has to threaded holes on the legs nearest to where you stand/sit that allow you to screw in any of the Hercules brand pegs for piccolo/flute/oboe/clarinet/soprano sax/trumpet/flugelhorn! A really nice feature that will reduce your equipment load for gigs! The feature that allows you to move the top of the stand closer/further aways is really nice....lets YOU control the distance from your playing position.
Also, the stand height adjustment is really nice...very heavy duty...just like the Hercules mike stand height ajustment where you squeeze the mechanism and raise the stand to whatever height you need. Works great! I bought the optional carry bag...which I recommend as it puts the stand and pegs you may use all into one easy transport bag with a shoulder strap.

Typical "tough built" that all Hercules instrument and music stands have! Will last a long time!
This stand is not as cheap as some of its competitors...BUT...I think this one will outlive 3-4 of those others stands because of it's great build design and also offers features that no other music stand offers (ability to use instrument pegs, forward/backward position, superior height adjustment mechanism, etc.)

This stand is much more dependable than smaller, collapse-type stands. It is light but strong and I've never had any trouble with using a binder-full of sheets on it. The folding legs, tilting stand and folding desk are all very handy travel features. I use the Hercules EZ Clutch music stand BS301B everywhere I play and at home when I practice.
