I purchased this stand to hold a mic in front of my Guitar amp. It works fine in that application. It has enough versatility to mic a combo amp or a single 4 x 12 cab with the stand in the front or the side of the cabinet. If you have a full stack it can reach the bottom speaker of the top 4 x 12 cab. This will normally not be a problem except in my case where my speakers in the top cab are a mix. In this case I use a full size mic stand. The stand can support a MXL Guitar Cube Mic with the arm almost fully extended to the side of the stand. That mic weights about one pound. One complaint are the locking mechanisms. The lock to hold the stand extended is somewhat difficult to tighten. The locks for the Mic holder and the arm assembly are thin metal star type jam nuts. These are almost impossible to tighten with your hands. A pair of pliers is needed to get them tight. Once you set it up the stand works as expected.

I buy and test alot of musical equipment from different companies in search of equipment that holds up in price, quality, and useability. I dont mind the makers of this stand but in all the short stands ive used over the years, this stand unfortunately was the worst purchase yet. It seemed to be packaged securely and imo your paying more for the box it comes in then the stand itself. I took it out of the box and noticed right away that the tightening keys that secure the boom and the body were completely broken off deeming it unuseable right away. Its very unsturdy and I placed both a D112 and a Beta 52 in various positions and it fell over. This was a disapointing buy hands down.

Comments about JAMSTANDS JS-MCFB50 Short Mic Stand with Fixed-Length Boom:

I ended up returning this item. It is mostly plastic and falls over with the weight of a SM57. Even when the plastic hardware is tightened, the overall stability was loose and sloppy.

This item does not have the metal tightening handle as shown. The stand is mostly plastic and is very flimsy. I returned the item for refund.

This thing is rock solid. No complaints at all. Use for recording guitar cabs. Very sturdy. Liked so much after receiving first one I ordered a 2nd. Only thing I can think of is, wish it included mic clip.

Nice low profile stand, although the tripod legs are a little longer than some other low profile stands I've used. Still doesn't take up much room. The small boom is nice to dial in the position you want.
