Comments about LaBella 760FHB2 Beatle Bass Flat Wound Light Electric Bass Strings:

On a recommendation from a luthier, I tried these strings on my Hofner 500/1 '62 Reissue. The Pyramids that were on there sounds dull and lifeless. Once these were on and were allow to settle, the difference was day and night. The low end thump, especially with just the neck pickup on is just awesome. Great clarity and no dead spots. With both pickups and even just the bridge pickup, you really get a great 60's rock sound. Love these strings and will not use anything else.

Comments about LaBella 760FHB2 Beatle Bass Flat Wound Light Electric Bass Strings:

Bought these for my wife - she recently got a Beatle Bass for its lightweight. Her other bass was just getting to be too heavy. The strings that came on it were round wound and the sound quality was not great. Researched strings for the Beatle Bass and it seemed the overwhelming response was the LaBella were great strings(flatwound). Hadn't tried LaBella strings before but decided to take a chance. Glad I did! We haven't had them on that long but so far they sound absolutely wonderful and stay in tune with very little adjustment(haven't got them totally stretched yet). Would definitely buy them again. I play acoustic guitar at Bible study and we both play along with others, when we have gospel singings at a friend of ours and invite their neighbors and a couple of churches for a Sunday afternoon singing.

      Service and delivery comments:

Strings arrived a day ahead of schedule and were in good shape. No problems.

Not the buttery tone I was usd to from say, RotoSounds, which was previous go to. In other words, "brighter" than I am used to, but definitely no annoying dead spots. Recommended

Had the Labella .050. .100's on my Hofner Icin but heard that they could damage the neck so I got these. They are consistant and fun to play.

I bought these to complete the restoration of my 1973 Hofner 500/1 bass guitar. Very satisfied with this, and many other , MF purchases over the years.

Comments about LaBella 760FHB2 Beatle Bass Flat Wound Light Electric Bass Strings:

I had a set of expensive flatwounds on my Hofner for years and it always sounded dead on the top E string. I thought it was the construction of the bass itself (the bridge or nut). I was never able to make it sound right and almost gave up on it. So I did some research and found on a few forums that many people were using these exact strings. They are specifically made for this kind of bass and they are perfect. This "fixed" my bass and now I am playing it again! Good luck finding these in any store though. Most stores carry a very limited variety of bass strings.

If you are looking to replace the sound of your original Hofner factory strings, these strings are not it. But I do like them better because they have more sustain and definition. The "E" string on the factory hofner string is muddy and lacks tone. This "E" is very well defined. Overall great strings but not to replace originals.

Comments about LaBella 760FHB2 Beatle Bass Flat Wound Light Electric Bass Strings:

The HCT 500/1 (Contemporary Hofner) comes with round-wounds. I use round-wounds on my Fender Precision, so the Hofner with the original strings sounded very similar to that. My goal was for a more 60's/Beatles sound for variation and I was encountering a bit more "buzz" than I prefer with the original round-wounds. The LaBella flat-wounds made a big difference. In hind sight, perhaps the next gauge up (760FHBB / 50-100) would have been better, because I probably would like a little bit deeper sound. I'm going to try them next time, but you still can't go wrong with these strings.

Hofner ships their bass with round wound strings. Get rid of them ASAP, you really want the flat wound strings to get the most from your Hofner bass. Differences are night and day, deep bass tones where ever you play on the fret board.
