Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Excellent pickguard with Lace Gold pickups. Greatly improved the tone of my Blackmore strat. And, Ritchie used lace sensors. Very happy with tone. Only complaints are there was no installation instructions provided and the 11 hole pickguard DID NOT match up to the drilled holes on guitar. I had to screqw in three holes. That is total [*]. Once installed, its good to go.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Overall: With all that said i do think you would be better off to just buy the pickups you want and ether learn to do it yourself or just pay somebody to do it and know that everything else along with your new pickups are top notch. This in no way changes my view of Lace Sensor pickups though. I do love them and are awesome in the right situations. Aside from the hum, these golds sounded fantastic and i am glad i got this just for the pickups. Nice change from the Blue Silver Red that had been in the guitar. Still hated having to polish them but i do like the way they sound. I had read that they sounded "Happy" and that's a good description. I'll get the hum fixed but i feel like i shouldn't have to. Just get the Golds.
The Features: Hard to go wrong with a prewired one straight from the factory. Nice and convenient but should have some kind of paperwork or something with it that gives a clue as to what you are supposed to do once you have it in hand. I've wired plenty myself but just wanted to try this as i said for the convenience. A complete novice would still have to look online after purchase. Not much to ask for in my opinion. Piece of paper.
The Quality: This is where it gets disappointing. For one thing, the edges of the pickups are not "finished" like the older Sensors that i have or even the couple of ones i bought just a few years ago. In fact the whole pickup is made different, The edges were rough and i felt the need to scrape that away. This pickguard was a "facelift" for a 20+ year old Strat so looks were a little important to me. Not everything but i fixed it. I finished wiring it up in the strat. Body, Output Jack and Trem Grounds then the Positive to the Output Jack. Very Simple. Plugged it in and there's a slight hum. Not going to say that i can't make a mistake but i felt like i got good solder joints so who knows. That one is up for grabs but i feel like maybe the components other than the pickups are suspect.
Value: As far as that i don't think it is terrible but not including instructions, leaving a portion of it up to the customer to finish the product leaves everything open to interpretation when something isn't right. This pickguard should be ready to go other than soldering the output jack and screwing the ground in to the body. To me that is Prewired. But you do get 3 Golds and a nice new pickguard if all else fails.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
Putting this strat together was an exercise in patience, but it has paid off! I had this Lace setup sitting in the body for a week before the tremolo arrived via UPS, all the while dreaming what it would sound like. And there is not one regret about the sound. I have and love many SD pups but I wanted this to be a "Strat" sounding guitar. I was impressed with the Lace online videos compared with other brands and they didn't over-promise. They're great, versatility comes from being spaced the way they are. I do not think they are redundant sounding at all. Bit of a plastic "crust" around edge of pups could have been filed a bit @ the factory is only complaint.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I just bought and recieved these after a couple of months of thinking about it. I was getting frustrated with my American Strat hum every time I played the pups in any position other than 2 &4.I missed using the neck pup. Well, after reading reviews, I finally settled on these. My main fear was they would not give me that "strat sound". I put them in two days ago, and after playing them over and over, adjusting the tone contols on my amp and guitar, I can now say these sound great! The neck position sounds as smooth as butter, the middle position, which was always kind of a plain sound to me before, sounds like a 70's strat. The 2 &4 positions are improved too, more clarity.I am not a guitar tech by any stretch, but I was able to put these in and not screw up the wiring, it's really pretty easy. These give me the sound I was hoping for, I'm more than please. Plus, they look cool too, with the gold letters. My guitar is a 2009 Amer Stand, and these make it sound so much better.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I got a couple years ago a Fender Deluxe Plus pickguard loaded with this Fender Lace Sensors Gold Pickups, I was told by some friends that this were the ultimate pickups, nothing cleaner, versatile, and for my plans "Blues Ready". Well since down here (Chile) getting quality spare parts for the guitar is only through importing them yourself, I got this second hand pickguard. after this years the pickguard was moved from a squier body, to a MIM, then to a 90s epoch Deluxe Plus (where this pickguard was originally included), I added the Fender +25db Onboard mid booster (eric clapton's and Buddy guys's signature preamp) and WOW... Sound is from graveyard quiet to ready to rock- with the PreAmp dialed at 3 mild driven blues, 6 I get Hot Sounds, at 9 is WOW really driven. even for my later Floyd's tunes the guitar is awesome.I get offers for the guitar every time I gig with it - it is really a great way to improve your guitar - I recommend 3 mod's to it: add the fender midboost preamp is like 70 bucks, get the volume capacitor mod, for keeping the tone when lowering your volume, and finally sacrifice on tremolo spring, and house the 9V battery in the back, the preamp sucks a battery every 2000-3000 hours, but if you forget to unplug your guitar the battery drains faster than you think. - some people add a on-off switch on the back modding the tremolo claw cover.
Comments about Lace Sensor Gold Prewired Pickguard:
I inherited a late 80's/early 90's strat from my dad, complete with a set of gold lace sensors. Very Crisp, Clean tone, even does distortion fairly well. For the types of music I like to play, I would've preferred a different combination of Lace Sensors instead of all 3 of them being Gold, but I'm definitely keeping a Gold in the neck. If you are looking for rich, thick, glossy, smooth tones, without giving away too much of the classic sound of a strat, look no further. Check the gold lace sensors out.
