Nice accessory, not so great as a primary choice

Comments about Manhasset MH1300 Violin/Viola Holder:

Well, it's a hunk of plastic you clip to the deck of your stand. It's got some flex to it, but I don't fear it breaking unless it's rather heavily abused. And there's plenty of curve in it, so I'm not afraid of the scroll slipping out.

Now, do you really want to leave your violin hanging from the lip of your music stand? I dunno. I DO use it all the time for my bow. And it's useful for hanging the violin on for short times, like while digging through a stack of music looking for something. I wouldn't do it if I were banging into the stand or anything though.

It's worth the price to give me a right at-hand place to hang my bow; serves excellently for that. And it's workable as a transient place to set the violin. But I wouldn't want it to be the primary storage...

Eh... It's OKAY...

Comments about Manhasset MH1300 Violin/Viola Holder:

This violin holder is OKAY... I thought it'd be a neat little gadget/toy when I bought it, but I'm a little leery of hanging my violin from it. Yes, you have to have a sturdy music stand, but even then... I put it on my new Manhasset Voyager stand, and if the desk of the stand suddenly flips from the weight of a 1000-page guitar book... Watch out! Scary moment there. I almost feel more comfortable putting the violin holder on my cheapy wire stand with a fixed desk angle than on my Manhasset. But so, okay, that incident was from my own stupidity. But even without a heavy book on the stand, I don't feel comfortable putting my cheap student violin on this. Of course, the whole thing is more stable when the music stand is lower and the center of gravity is lower to the ground, but I prefer to practice standing up, which doesn't help. In short, the best place to put a violin when you aren't playing it is shut up in its case (although mine is on my coffee table right now), and definitely NOT on the violin holder - that's almost like hanging the violin directly off of the stand! Scary...

Comments about Manhasset MH1300 Violin/Viola Holder:

I have string swings that screw onto the stand that me and my kids use and they work great. This flimsy thing on the other hand is going to be returned. I love being able to have the fiddle on the stand while you are using it, and truthfully I do at times just leave mine on the stand while using the heavy duty string swing. But I would not feel safe even using this thing. Plus if by chance the stand ever got knocked over it would brake the first time. Plus it cost me as much as me other nicer ones.
