OVERVIEW

Designed to be one of the smoothest double bass pedals ever made.

The Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal has hollow, stainless steel drive shafts, which offer the utmost in strength without adding unwanted drag or excess weight. This increases the slick operation of the pedals and gives the Falcon a sensationally smooth feel. By allowing the torque-free spring mechanisms to move independently, the Falcon's stroke and recoil motions are exceptionally fluid, and feel more natural to your feet.

Every feature and pedal adjustment has been engineered to make the Falcon feel as if it's an extension of your feet.

Because the Mapex Falcon's footprint is more compact than other bass drum pedals, it's easy to comfortably position between your hi-hat and snare stands. The Falcon pedal's easy-to-reach, resistance-free Talon clamp adjustment tightens with one hand from a seated position, making set up quick and easy”even in the tightest spaces.

The Mapex Falcon drum pedal's patented Talon bass drum hoop clamp features locking claws that move independently from the pedal frame. Even if the bass drum is pitched at a severe angle, the pedal remains flat to the floor and securely clamped to the drum for the utmost comfort and security.

The Mapex Falcon is equipped with interchangeable cams to suit your individual style. The Glide cam offers an equal amount of inertia from the beginning to the end of the stroke, while the Pursuit cam is recommended for increased power and maximum impact. The reversible beater heads comes with interchangeable 0.35 oz. and 0.75 oz. inserts. By choosing one of these weights”or playing without any additional weight at all”you can choose your desired degree of centrifugal force.

The Falcon's footboard design provides the feel of a longer board without the additional weight and mass. A lighter footboard provides greater control with less fatigue, and its uniquely sculpted profile allows you to position your feet at any angle and operate the pedals with minimal expended energy”making even the most intricate patterns seem effortless.

The footboard angles and beater angles are independently adjustable, enabling you to fine-tune the ideal combination of playing comfort and force of stroke. The footboards and heel plates are hinged using an exclusive sealed-bearing mechanism that offers zero resistance and secure operation with no lateral movement.

My main motivation for buying these is the strap, chain, or direct-drive options. I tried the straps, actually feel very nice, currently using the chains, and placed my order online for the direct-drive links, so now I'll have that option too. To me, I like the fact that I'm not stuck with a chain or direct drive pedal. If my legs hit a plateau, I can change up the muscle memory and go to straps, chains, or DD links and spice things up. Axis and Trick are good pedals (still might buy a Dominator single pedal), but Falcons are AMAZING middle-men between traditional chain short boards and super light aluminum direct-drive pedals. Falcons are far lighter than DW pedals, yet not as "wild" feeling as an Axis longboard. And if you're considering Speed Cobras, Falcons hit JUST as hard at higher speeds since the black cam is very similar to the SC cam. From my personal experience,16th notes at anything greater than 180bpm with my DW's sounded very wimpy so my legs had to work harder to keep the dynamics consistant, but with the Falcons the impact is far greater with less effort from your upper legs/hips. Overall, its a great pedal. Not as popular as the DW9000, Tama IC/SP, or Axis, but I highly recommend you at least try them out at your local music store before buying any other brand.
The features on this pedal are limitless, although do take some time to adjust. I like my pedal board to be fairly low to the ground but still have a fair amount of room between the beaters and drum head. Falcons allow you to adjust the board and beaters independantly (like Tricks do), BUT I have to admit there it's a little tricky to get both the left and right pedal boards even based on the fact that the cam on the slave isn't visually consistant with the cam on the master pedal. Not a huge deal, but if you own this pedal I'm sure you can relate with having to "eyeball" the level between the two. Other than that though, I do like all the other adjustments, especially the spring assembly (far better feeling that stock DW spring assemblies). The beaters are very nice too, I actually like them better than my Iron Cobra beaters.
I was a DW guy prior to buying this pedal, so I'm used to a very heavy/solid pedal. I was a little worried about the quality of the Facons since the shaft if hollow. After playing them though, the pedal is very well constructed yet WAY lighter than my DW5000s. Visually very nice but they feel very reliable (although I am not a touring drumming, so I can't say they are "road-worthy", seems like they will hold up though).
Very good value actually. Money really wasn't an issue for me, so I was considering Axis and Trick pedals also. Falcons are actually "cheap" in price, but without a doubt rival the more popular pedals brands out there (for way less money, I used the extra cash to buy Electri6ity, also highly recommended).

    Best Pedal Out There

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

This is by far the fastest and smoothest pedal I have ever played. Everything can be adjusted in a matter of seconds, which is especially great for my bandmates. It comes with a very nice travel case along with another set of cams and the strap drive option. It also comes with velcro plates that can be added on to the bottom of the pedals for additional security.I would not recommend anything other than the Mapex Falcon. The only downside is the price. I'm sure the travel case, cams, and straps are included in the price, but it's still a lot of money for a pedal. That being said, this is money that will never have to be spent again as this is the only pedal that you will probably ever need...at least that's the case for me.Buy this pedal. I promise you won't regret it!

Right in line with any dw 5000, iron cobra, or pearl eliminator

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

If it was easier to adjust the footboard independently of the beater I would give a 9 or 10
I heavily weighed many other decisions before buying this pedal. I ended up buying the pedal for many reasons. I already own one of the original rolling glide iron cobras from the 90's so I wanted to give another brand a try (it is worthy to note that my second-hand iron cobras lasted me10 years). This is what I found when shopping:

    DW 5000s:
    small footboard
    loose connection joints

    Pearl eliminators:
Nice, but I didn't like the rubber dots
wasn't crazy about the adjustment options

    Iron cobras:
Iron cobras really are great, only downside is their weight.
*the iron cobras biggest advantage is that it has the easiest, most precise way of changing footboard height and/or beater distance.

    Mapex Falcon:
Only downside is that you have to loosen a nut on the cam to independently adjust the footboard.
The pedal could be too smooth for some people, similar to a dw 9000.
One major advantage is you can buy a driect drive kit for this pedal
These pedals seem pretty rock solid to me. I've had them for 3 months now.
I got the last floor model for really cheap.

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

This pedal is amazing! So smooth and responsive. I have played many different pedals and this is THE best pedal i have ever placed my feet on. Blows my eliminators and iron cobras out of the water. I even prefer it over my axis pedals...do your self a favor and buy these pedals now. The pedals are solid feeling and are completly silent. no noise what so ever. I love the talon hoop clamp to, nice feature. Just the best...

    It's great!

    By TheProphetOfWrath

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I used this product at my local music store and it was incredible with just the default settings.
It played smooth and fast and I'm sure it's at least 3/4 quality of the DW 9000 or Cobra(haven't played either pedal). The price is amazingly small considering how well the pedal worked. One thing I really like is that the falcon is the only pedal I've seen SO FAR that has a long-board and a heel-plate.
I will not rate the features because I was not able to adjust anything.
Seems solid. The slave pedal can swing 4-6 times before stopping.
Great price for a great pedal.

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I was the first one in our city to own this magnificent double pedal. I had read reviews....But actually playing the Falcon D/P is beyond words. The detail put into the hardware and the performance of the Falcon, left me in awe. I was playing with a DW 7000 double on my Mapex Orion Blue Burl(limited edition)kit, but since I've add the Falcon, there is no comparison. And it even matches my kit. The Falcon has enhanced my overall performance significantly. Superb product!!

    Iron Cobra Killer!

Comments about Mapex Falcon Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I wasn't totally thrilled with the Tama Iron Cobra that I bought so I decided to order a Mapex Falcon so I could do a side-by-side test with the two pedals. Well, the Mapex Falcon is 100% as advertised!!! It's faster, it feels better, the build quality is amazing, the design is amazing, the manual is much better, and the case that comes with it is really first class. I've only used the Falcon so far with the "glide" cam so I don't know how good the "pursuit" cams are. I like the feel of the heavier beater head weights because they give the pedal more punch and power. Even with the heavier beater head weights, this is the fastest and smoothest pedal I've ever used. I'm returning the Iron Cobra and plan on using my new Mapex Falcon for a long long time! It's one of the best purchases I've ever made!!!
