I play in a church band that plays 5 songs a week. I put these strings on on May 16 for a CD release concert I was playing in for a Christian artist. I practiced his 15 songs, and the concert was the next day. After that, I practiced 5 songs twice a week and performed 5 songs once per week. The B string of all things broke on June 22. Granted the entire set cost about the same as just one B string. So as long as you change the strings about once a month you'll be OK. At 10 bucks a pop it won't break the budget. They sound very crisp and clear for about 3 weeks. Also I'm a pretty hard player so your results may very. I use the 3mm dunlop stubby picks, and I have been known to shred all three points on the pick on one 5 song performance. So if your a finger player this set might last a long time.

I recommend these low cost, yet good quality bass strings. I use these to record on my home recording system. I've places the low B, E, A and D on a short scale four (4) string guitar. The strings work fine, sound fine, and perform fine.

I bought this string set to put on a bass I am selling, but actually like their build quality, tone seems pretty good, and they are probably the smoothest feeling round wounds I have ever played.

Work great on my 5 string with active pickups. Good overall quality strings and since I practice/play 7 hours a week I need something with good tone, good price and durability and these seem to fit the bill. You can't beat the price either. I haven't had a problem with the strings oxidizing like others have, but I try to wash my hands before playing to reduce acid and oil transfer.

For the price and quality these strings are well worth the money. Ive been playing with this brand for about 4 years. I have never had a string break on me. Being an active musician, i dont see paying alot of money for strings that i change about every 2 months. So this is my brand. The sound is top notch for my system setup. Actually the last time i changed strings on one of my basses was about a year and half ago, and they are just now starting to show the wear. Buy them, you'll like them.

I really like to get the best value I can get for the lowest dollar amount. I don't necessarily want just cheap, and I'm willing to pay moderately for quality items. With these string I got exactly that. They are a good value. Let's face it, we don't always have a lot to drop on strings. These do very well for me. Although to be fair, if I were playing professionally I would probably then go for the high dollar ones.

These are good strings from my experience using them. They sound good and loud and seem to last. I dont understand the other complaints about turning your fingers black or being dirty. Ive used these strings for years and have never had that problem with them. Maybe the other people got part of a bad batch.
                      Nickel plated steel core.
Bright, crisp, fat and loud sounding strings. Seem to last as long as other major brands I have used.
For only ten bucks they are great sounding strings.

                      Good price and they work

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 5-String Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings:

As all other reviewers have mentioned, they make your hands dirty. Coming from a set of DR hi beams, which I had used for over 2 years, I thought "what do I have to lose" and tried these out. But somehow the tone seems hollow, the sound is weaker, and this "light" gauge is still 130 low B instead of the 120 I was used to. The strings seem sluggish. It could all be my imagination, but I'm ordering the DRs again and will take these off. If I didn't have the money I'd probably even put the old DRs back on again.

Never had strings that left my fingers so dirty!
                      inexpensive strings that sound good
