I tend to break sticks period no matter the make/model, that being said, if you are fine with frequent changes like between every third or fourth song, these are just fine. Rim shots sound great. The tips are obviously the first to suffer and the stick tends to split about the same place at the point of complete failure.

I have a few pairs of these lying around in my basement that a friend brought over. Yhey're very light compared to other drumsticks. they almost seem porous... and they put a weird coating over the drumsticks to make them last longer (since the wood has such little density). yes they last about as long as a normal drumstick pair. not quite, but almost. sure, you can hit drums with them. but there are 3 flaws1) like I said, they're light. too light. I like having more weight behind the stick, but that's just my oppinion.2) the head of the stick (I got 5a wood) sounds AWFUL on ride cymbals. wayyy too muddy.3) I use hearing protection, which makes me play louder. I play verry loudly. when you hit hard, THESE DRUMSTICKS HURT! yes, they hurt. they vibrate excessively and make your hand sting after about 10 minute of heavy playing. especially with rim shots.my oppinion - have 2 or 3 good pairs of drumsticks lying around so you can actually 'play' with. if you really wanna have a ton of backup pairs for whatever reason, then sure, buy these, but don't expect to be good. too light for rock, too sucky sounding on the ride for jazz, and they just hurrrrrt.

I got them in the stupid deal of the day, they come in a bad mix they don't have the sleeves like you would get in the Vic Firth so what I did I just marked them in pairs according to what I though it would work as balanced weight They are good for practice if you are I drummer, I'm a percussionist so I use it to play my mounted tambourine. They are great for 10 for 10 dlls, don't expect the quality of Vic firth of 10 for 70-80 dlls

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drum Sticks:

I received them today. Wood tips, YAY. All looked well made, no knots or uneven grain. Diameter 0.56". Pretty much a 5A. Weights vary quite a bit. I pulled out 4 at random. All 4 appeared to roll straight and were not warped. They weighed 43, 49, 51, and 53 grams. Ok, 43g is way off but the other 3 are close enough for bashing work. There's probably a better match for the 43g stick in the bunch, but I'm not that picky. FWIW, a pair of new stick from a boutique manufacturer weighed within 1 gram of each other, but they cost quite a bit more The finish felt a bit sticky after playing them for a few minutes, not a bad thing. Overall, well worth the sale price. I will use them for my "bashing" band and save the boutique sticks for my finesse band. YMMV, the next batch may be totally different.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drum Sticks:

These are great sticks to have around the house, studio or road. They're well made and well balanced with one caveat - the weight varies between sticks. Simple enough, but time consuming. I bought 2 packs of 10, so I immediately laid them out and went through them all, feeling each stick and pairing them according to weight and feel. It took about 15 - 20 mins. of my time but once it's done, I was grateful to know that each time I grabbed a pair they would be matched. And for a buck a pair with that crazy Cyber Monday sale... How do you loose? Haven't broke a stick yet.
