I have a few pairs of these lying around in my basement that a friend brought over. Yhey're very light compared to other drumsticks. they almost seem porous... and they put a weird coating over the drumsticks to make them last longer (since the wood has such little density). yes they last about as long as a normal drumstick pair. not quite, but almost. sure, you can hit drums with them. but there are 3 flaws1) like I said, they're light. too light. I like having more weight behind the stick, but that's just my oppinion.2) the head of the stick (I got 5a wood) sounds AWFUL on ride cymbals. wayyy too muddy.3) I use hearing protection, which makes me play louder. I play verry loudly. when you hit hard, THESE DRUMSTICKS HURT! yes, they hurt. they vibrate excessively and make your hand sting after about 10 minute of heavy playing. especially with rim shots.my oppinion - have 2 or 3 good pairs of drumsticks lying around so you can actually 'play' with. if you really wanna have a ton of backup pairs for whatever reason, then sure, buy these, but don't expect to be good. too light for rock, too sucky sounding on the ride for jazz, and they just hurrrrrt.

They have good sound and firmness, the trouble is they have way too moles remaining durability to use against the rim of the toms

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drum Sticks:

I tend to break sticks period no matter the make/model, that being said, if you are fine with frequent changes like between every third or fourth song, these are just fine. Rim shots sound great. The tips are obviously the first to suffer and the stick tends to split about the same place at the point of complete failure.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drum Sticks:

I've been drumming for 8 years. I play alot of different styles of modern metal. I was going through a pair of sticks each practice. I must say I was quite surprised when I sat down with these sticks...Yes the quality is not up to par with vic or vater, but I don't believe they're marketed to be. These are a great practice stick for someone on a budget. However, I do not recommend these for shows or in the studio.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drum Sticks:

I got through sticks like crazy, so I'm not overly concerned with quality. Sticks feel ok, didn't break right away, and at just over a buck a pair, even "sticklers" get it, can use them for back ups!

I got these to try because they're cheap. They suck, they are not straight and are lucky to last a 30 minute session.
