Works well and hold mic in place. You need to loosen it when you move the boom or you will break the pivot. If you take care of them they work just fine. Wish they came with a clip but for the price, they are a good deal.
Wish the pivot joint was made of metal. Need to be careful assembling them or the plastic will strip.Loosen the pivot BEFORE you try to move the boom arm or you will break it. With other mic stands it just wrecks the friction disc and the arm won't stay up. Treat it good and it will last.
a good priced mic stand and it works

Knob that tightens telescoping section of the boom came apart (plastic portion that holds knob in place cracked) with very minimal pressure. I knew others have had similar issues but I thought I could get lucky. MusiciansFriend gets five stars for how it handled return of the product but this item obviously had quality issues.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
I haven't used it yet, but initial impression was that it was a little cheap. Seemed wobbly when I stood it straight up fully extended. Probably wouldn't fall over too easily, due to the tripod, but a little wobblier than I wanted. I expect it will do fine for a while if I take care of it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
I ordered two of these mic stands for a real good price.
When I went to the gig and set them up I noticed that BOTH of the "boom" clips were cracked. Next day I called Musicians Friend to see if they would send me two clips as a replacemnet. The MF rep was very helpful in fixing this issue and said that I would be receiving replacment clips.
Instead of just the clips, I received two brand new mic stands!
In my haste, I didn't know that these clips were case molded to the boom and you can't get just the clips. MF went above and beyond to make this right and you simply can't get that kind of service anywhere.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
You get what you pay for... It is even more expensive since I last bought it. I originally bought one and two of the knobs broke almost instantly so I called MF and they were helpful in getting me a replacement (not free, of course). I got the replacement and the knobs eventually broke on that one also. It's only the knobs at the top of the stand (to clarify), specifically: the knobs that tighten the boom arms that extend out, that break easily; all the other knobs are holding up well. I will not be buying this specific mic stand ever again though. I was not happy.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
Worked perfectly fine for a month or two. I kept it at one of my bands' rehearsal spaces and barely moved it. Had to take it home one day for a recording session and when i brought it back and set it up the top part snapped off with almost no pressure applied (same amount of pressure you would apply when setting up a normal stand). Currently looking for a replacement or refund.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
I bought 3 stands and 1 arrived broken. The adjustment knobs are of poor quality. Especially the plastic housing ring that holds the screw and knob in place for the tele-boom (the part that arrived broken). The knobs even hurt my fingers to turn. I would not trust these to hold any expensive/heavy mic.
The DANGEROUS design flaw in these is that the telescoping tube has no back end stopper to keep it from falling out when it reaches its maximum length. So, when you have a heavy mic on it and you're letting the telescoping part lengthen down toward the floor, gravity could pull the whole tube out of the boom stand and your mic could hit the floor.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
Despite some of the negative reviews, I also took into account the positive reviews... and I bought it. This is a solid mic stand. It's a good starter stand that will hold together for what I use it for. Home recording. I use a shock mount which houses my condenser mic with no problems. The mic stand has no trouble baring the weight of my mic. I might even take it on stage. 4 stars, don't hesitate unless you really want to spend a lot of money for a top of the line stand!

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
Has a lot of components for a cheap stand. The adjustable parts have a little play when fully tightend. Extends good so that the stand is not in the way of your instrument.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:
We have three of these stands now, one of them for almost two years. It has been everywhere with us, live events, recording sessions and in home studio. It has held up very well, folds down and travels well and is stable indoors and out. Our lead singer loves it. That's why we purchased 2 more!
