Great Price and Great Service...

I needed a telescoping boom to hold the condenser mike for my home studio setup. It does its job extremely well. A good stand that is inexpensive without being cheap.

I bought 3 stands and 1 arrived broken. The adjustment knobs are of poor quality. Especially the plastic housing ring that holds the screw and knob in place for the tele-boom (the part that arrived broken). The knobs even hurt my fingers to turn. I would not trust these to hold any expensive/heavy mic.

The DANGEROUS design flaw in these is that the telescoping tube has no back end stopper to keep it from falling out when it reaches its maximum length. So, when you have a heavy mic on it and you're letting the telescoping part lengthen down toward the floor, gravity could pull the whole tube out of the boom stand and your mic could hit the floor.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I ordered two of these mic stands for a real good price.

When I went to the gig and set them up I noticed that BOTH of the "boom" clips were cracked. Next day I called Musicians Friend to see if they would send me two clips as a replacemnet. The MF rep was very helpful in fixing this issue and said that I would be receiving replacment clips.

Instead of just the clips, I received two brand new mic stands!

In my haste, I didn't know that these clips were case molded to the boom and you can't get just the clips. MF went above and beyond to make this right and you simply can't get that kind of service anywhere.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Despite some of the negative reviews, I also took into account the positive reviews... and I bought it. This is a solid mic stand. It's a good starter stand that will hold together for what I use it for. Home recording. I use a shock mount which houses my condenser mic with no problems. The mic stand has no trouble baring the weight of my mic. I might even take it on stage. 4 stars, don't hesitate unless you really want to spend a lot of money for a top of the line stand!

      Tripod Mic Stand

      By Douglas Cobb

      from Midwest

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

For the price you can't go wrong... If you are a "Rock Star" you should buy the more expensive mic stand
      (you can afford it...:-)
Works well and hold mic in place. You need to loosen it when you move the boom or you will break the pivot. If you take care of them they work just fine. Wish they came with a clip but for the price, they are a good deal.
Wish the pivot joint was made of metal. Need to be careful assembling them or the plastic will strip.Loosen the pivot BEFORE you try to move the boom arm or you will break it. With other mic stands it just wrecks the friction disc and the arm won't stay up. Treat it good and it will last.
a good priced mic stand and it works

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Knob that tightens telescoping section of the boom came apart (plastic portion that holds knob in place cracked) with very minimal pressure. I knew others have had similar issues but I thought I could get lucky. MusiciansFriend gets five stars for how it handled return of the product but this item obviously had quality issues.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Great stand I had sat and read reviews for hours on mic stands and no matter what some said stuff was bad and some said it was good but I decided to go with what I wanted. So I chose this one and I love it. I didnt get the mic or the mic clip I ordered so I have a backup mic tied to the stand right now. But overall this stand works great.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

The stand is well made, but requires care. First, It has, as many knobs as, a sound system. Second, I use a Shure KSM microphone, which is rather heavy, and can easily topple any tripod. In contrast, the stand is solid metal making it extremely sturdy, and can be adjusted countless ways enabling easy placement.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Good price. Decent product. Met my needs.
I purchased these to complete an audio set I bought. It didn't come with mic stands. These stands are better than the stands I received with the mic kit that I purchased for my drums. They are inexpensive but they are heavier and have the telescoping boom.
          Works for me. No issues
          Decent for the price.

          Piece of junk

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Just save your money and buy something else. I've had good luck with two guitar cases from Musicians Gear, so I thought I'd take a chance on these stands. No such luck.
Basic telescoping boom features. They're there, but they don't don't work well
Just awful. I ordered two of these. It was right before a move, so I didn't get a chance to try them right away. By the time I got around to checking them out, it was too late to return them.

Right off the bat, before even the first use, the clamps on the telescoping portion on both stands were cracked, making the telescoping function useless. I've managed to glue them, and they seem to be holding for the moment, but I imagine they'd easily break again if I adjusted them a few more times.
These things are dirt cheap, but I expected them to at least last through a few uses before breaking. I didn't expect them to arrive broken already!

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

If you are looking for a really good cheap stand here it is, I wouldn't recommend sticking 5000$ tube mics on the end of it but then again if you can afford 5000$ mics you wouldn't be looking at this stand. Aslong as you take care of it and not abuse it as some of the people on here tend to and then complain, it will last you for a long time.
It's a stand, nothing out of the ordinary.
for 20 bucks you really can't go wrong, everything is tight, it stands solid. Even with a really heavy Blue condenser on the end with the boom fully extended it still stands fine, sure its almost out of balance but it does the job, and it will excel with most microphones.
again, for 20$ you really can't beat it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

You can not beat the value you get from this stand.
The folds up compactly and can reach most any area that needs to be miced.
I received two broken units before I finally got one that was intact. I have had one of these stands for 3 years of weekly use setting up and storing and it is holding up great.
This is a great stand for the money.
