Comments about On-Stage Stands SS7761 Tripod Speaker Stand:

I am using this stand to hold a behringer self-powered 15" speaker. There weren't any problems with it supporting the speaker. It has both a clamp and metal pin that keep the pole locked in place. I would definitely purchase it again.

Comments about On-Stage Stands SS7761 Tripod Speaker Stand:

Looked at the Ulimate stands as well, which were certainly pricier. Don't know if they are actually any better. I like these stands (used them at a large hall gig last night). Set up easy, hold our Yamaha 15" PA speakers no sweat. I'm always skeptical of compression-type clamping on tubes as they will (over time) often lose their grip. However, with these stands you have the option to insert a stop-peg through the stand pole (evenly spaced holes provided) to prevent the pole from slipping with your heavy gear onboard. That means you don't have to tighten the height compression clamp too much. With a little bit of tension from the compression clamp and the stop-peg in place, you've got "belt-and-suspenders" type of protection that doesn't stress the design in any one way too much. Which hopefully means these things will go the distance. Other aspects are they seem to be finished well with good rubber feet, some metal hinging hardware, etc. Overall good quality (I hope!!) at a decent price.

Hard to beat for the price. Could be a little heavier made when holding a very expensive speaker but does its job well.

Comments about On-Stage Stands SS7761 Tripod Speaker Stand:

I own 5 of these stands and have been using them with our band and my DJ business for 5 years. They are light but stable. We put the old (version 1) Mackie 450's on them, with the bottom speaker about head high. That being said, I would not put anything heavier on them, but for us they have worked very well.
