Comments about Proline F-Style Graphite Slotted Nut:

I recently bought an old and very beat up stratocaster style guitar, with the intention of setting it up properly and putting different pickups in it to make it sound like a true strat. When I took the original strings off the guitar, I found that the nut on it was in three separate pieces! So I ordered this as an inexpensive replacement.

The nut was the perfect length, but was too wide to fit. Since it is hollow (my only real complaint about it), I didn't want to file the nut thinner for fear of it breaking in the process, or being too weak and breaking under the pressure of the strings. So I had to widen the slot on the guitar's fretboard which was quite nerve-racking because if you make it too wide, you're in a bad way. I also had to file the slots on the nut to be lower as well, but that was no big deal.

Nothing too special about it, but nothing necessarily wrong with it either, other than that it should be solid. For the price, it's a decent nut. It gets the job done and the guitar I used it on plays and sounds great.

    Worked on my Squier 51

Comments about F-Style Graphite Slotted Nut:

Purchased for my Squier 51 guitar. Almost a perfect fit, needed very little sanding. Most importantly to me, the string spacing was exact. The hardest part is removing the old nut without damaging guitar. First use a cutting blade to carefully score all around old nut to separate from the polyurethane finish and then use a very small flat head screwdriver (like would be used on tiny screws found on eye glasses) to act as a chisel to separate the old nut from the neck on the sides, chiseling all three sides, then use a small punch to get out.
Use a toothpick with a small amount of wood glue to apply where the nut is going and line it up and press in.
Now you have a graphite nut that has better tone and tuning stability than the original plastic.

Comments about Proline F-Style Graphite Slotted Nut:

I have used these to upgrade my Squier 51, Standard Telecaster, and Hot Rails Stratocaster. Each time took very little sanding and the string spacing is close enough for me. Sounds good and helps tuning stability.

Comments about Proline F-Style Graphite Slotted Nut:

Replacing a nut on a guitar is not the easiest to do, but is very worth it for improved tuning stability and tone. I have used this nut to replace on my Squier 51 and Hot Rails Strat. I use a razorblade to score around the old nut and then a small punch and hammer to remove. Then I use some sand paper on the nut, not the guitar neck, to get it the size needed.
