After using the stand for several years (about 4 performances per year) the cam handle on the upper tube broke. This appears to be a common issue. When I asked for parts ... "Unfortunately we do not offer replacementparts or kits. If you are witin our 5 year warranty, take the unit back to the origional place of purchase for an exchange. Sincerely, Proline support." I guess these are made to be disposable.

Solid Stand - No Probs here

I purchased several of these stands about 4 years ago to use in our Music Academy ... kids lessons, performances, etc. I must say, we've never experienced any of the problems described here and I would definitely purchase more stands if needed. I will say that the stands are pretty heavy-duty and sturdy, a feature good for use in dedicated space. Although it isn't the standard Manhasset all-metal, been around for decades, tried-and-true, for the money I don't think you can find a better stand. That said, if I were gigging more, I would probably choose a stand that didn't weigh as much as this one does ... who wants to tote around a heavy stand when there are lighter, suitable options. Conceivably, the plastic handles could be damaged but they are pretty substantial and, in my experience, they'd have to be handled pretty roughly in order for that to happen. Don't know if the other reviewer had a bad batch from the factory - entirely possible - or if the quality has changed since my purchase. In the end, I would purchase again and really like the stand for what we use them for ... and it sure saved over the Manhasset's, which are a standard tradition in the Classical/Jazz world I come from. They're sturdy like Manhasset but entirely portable - the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Never Had a Problem

I play on the worship team at my church. About 6 months ago we started a new campus in a movie theater where we play every Sunday night. Prior to that we did a couple "teaser concerts" up there and when we first arrived I was REALLY impressed with the music stands they had there. Really great looking products, the idea behind the clips was really cool in my opinion, and they just seemed very sturdy. I've not abused the stands but I've used them for the last 6 months for the purpose they were designed for and have not had a single problem. Nor has any of the other 4 members of the team using the same stands. I just wanted to come to bad for this product because, while it is unfortunate that people have experienced QC issues with this stand, I've had nothing but good experiences with them and intend on trying to get some at our home campus.

i've read all the reviews, and it's unfortunate that bad things happened to their product.  i have this stand for about 2.5 years and running.  i have no such problem with it.  the stands been abused - dropped, walked over, and the like. yet, in all it still functions like the first day i received it. the levers are still in excellent working conditions.  i know a few of you were talking about the "splintering [of] the upper collar." i have to say that i did that a few times, and have never had any problems.  i'm not saying that you're wrong about this product.  it is unfortunate that it had to happen to you; however, i never had breakdown of this product during my time of use.  every product can be defective after certain uses, or right out the box.  mine happens not to be that.  still, this product is great.  i plan to have my church order half a dozen or so.

This is a very sturdy and reliable music stand that I've been using for about 5yrs now. I use at home as well as on the road and never experienced any problem with it. A band mate bought one about a week ago because I recommended it to him and these stands are still built the same so I'm surprised to read about broken parts problems in other reviews. I can tell that those are exceptions. The stand is a bit heavy but that's because it is made to last and withstand the abuse while on the road. I'm going to buy two more in the near future.
