This is a good stand. It is stable enough to use a light weight boom with. I use it in my music room and it works fine.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I've bought these a few times when on sale. Great price, but I have had to repair a couple of the stands I often used on stage. The metal pieces with the threads to attach the microphone holder are just pressed into place inside the metal tubing and, will eventually loosen and spin. I had to drill it out to put a screw in place.....oops there goes the warranty. Otherwise they work just fine for home and practice and when on sale there so cheap you may as well have them permanently where you practice and not have to carry them back and forth.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

The base of the stand comes loose when you attempt to loosen middle to raise or lower mic. This flaw makes stand NOT user friendly. A better design would have a nut/lock washer holding pole to base to prevent loosening when in use. If you need a cheap stand get this and apply Locktight to the screw in part at the base. If you can afford a better stand for everyday use then spend more on a better design.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I'm an engineer familiar with the road from the back line for Elton John to smaller groups playing the bar circuits and intermediate pro groups playing tours.

These are not ATLAS stands, but imho good enough for most road and static use. The big difference between these and the Atlas stuff is the gauge of steel used in the upright post. These posts are literally 1/2 the thickness.

Great for all but the most demanding road trips. If abused you may find the upright may shear off where it meets the base. In that case we simply whip out the pipe threader and twist some new threads and viola.. rock and roll baby.

When you buy 10-20 at a time, the difference between high end cost and these is significant. You be the judge.

For 90% of bands and tours out there these work fine.

Don't forget to put a good quality boom on top of them. Bases are one thing, but booms are more important in the overall ease of use and longevity of the mic stand.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I use 5 microphones in our 4 pc. progressive acoustic band. I prefer this style of base as opposed to the tripod leg style due to the often need for stage space. It also helps to avoid tripping. ProLine is a good go to brand that I have used for many years. For this style of microphone stand, there is no need to pay more.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I just bought a new boom for this stand, because I thought my old boom was flimsy. Turns out it wasn't the fault of the boom. It was the design of the stand. The threading for the mic clip (or boom) is an insert. The threads are not part of the metal pipe, it's an insert that comes loose and freely turns 360 degrees. The insert doesn't actually pop out, but your mic boom is going to spin around if you tough it while you are singing. I'm shopping around for a higher priced stand that has a thread metal pole, not an insert that will come loose after a few trips in the car or trailer.
