After trying nearly a dozen different keyboard and piano benches, I found the memory foam in the Proline brand to be the most comfortable and versatile. For the price and features, such as easy adjustments and fold-up storage, this bench is hard to beat. Whatever style of music that you play, once you sit on the memory foam for an hour of practice, you'll be glad that you made the investment for this premium bench; it's well-made and practical.

Bought this model in July 2015 and with casual home use it broke in October 2015. The bench was getting about an hour of use per day, when one of the pins that sets the adjustment height broke. The pins are constructed of two pieces of steel that are welded together. A small piece of cylindrical steel, about the diameter of a pencil, is welded into the end of a bored out larger piece of cylindrical steel. On this bench, all of the smaller cylinders received three spot welds except for the one that broke - it only received two very light spot welds, which eventually gave way. ProLine does not provide spare parts for these benches, so you're forced to contact Musician's Friend for support.Unfortunately, the original box had been discarded, so I had no way to return this defective item. I ended up using JB Weld to fix the pin, however one of the other butterfly nuts stripped as I was reassembling the seat after my repair job. The butterfly nuts are designed to thread into the larger portion of the pin and lock them in place, so they can't accidently back out and cause the seat to collapse. Had I been cranking hard on the butterfly nut, I could understand the fact the threads stripped. This is not the case - the butterfly nut stripped quite easily with barely any torque applied to it. Someone else mentioned this same problem. If it weren't for these design and construction flaws, this would be a good piano bench. However, as it sits in my music room, it is far from a "5." I also found one of the rails mounted to the bottom of the seat was loose. Two of the Allen screws on one end were quite loose. Had these completely backed out, the seat would have collapsed. The seat is rated for 300 lbs and I'm about 80 lbs south of that. Recommend avoiding this product.

Comments about Proline PL1250 Keyboard Bench With Memory Foam:

Overall construction of this bench is excellent however the foam leaves a lot to be desired.
Less that a months use and the foam compacts down to nothing. The bench is sturdy, stable and easy to adjust but will be getting a trip to the local Upholstery shop for a upgrade to the foam. I would still recommend this bench for its other qualities but know if it will be getting frequent use plan on replacing the foam

Just what I was looking for in a bench. When seated, be careful how far you lean to the left or right as the center of balance is rather high.

Comments about Proline PL1250 Keyboard Bench With Memory Foam:

If I might describe to those unacquainted with this type of bench the legs slide up and down a set of tracks and on each leg is a set of wing bolts, one on each side, that are attached to spring loaded pegs that when you reach your desired hole you release and then tighten down and it locks it safely in place. Mine arrived with the peg the wing bolt went to on one of the four locations stripped out so it could not be tightened down securely. Musicians Friend is replacing it now but the turnaround time is taking quite a while.

As I recall there are four positions you can put the bench in (four heights) but all were either too low or too high for me. It is also not handy to adjust. I think I will end up having to set it low and use some carpet samples to bring me to just the right height.

Comments about Proline PL1250 Keyboard Bench With Memory Foam:

Don't waste your money. The seat is hard as a rock. It is too tall for a woman even in the lowest setting; only 4 height adjustments with tall people in mind. Pins were bent out of the box. I SENT IT BACK the same day!

Only problem with it, is that it takes strength to pull pins back and reset them. If you leave it at one height, no problem.
