Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Heavy Duty X Keyboard Stand:

I had a two tier Quik lok stand from the 90s that I bought used. It lasted until a few weeks ago. The knobs were a ceramic like material. It was a work horse. The tiers were not the most aligned but it worked by moving some of those rubber pads on the arms. That said, the old stand was easily adjustable and it lasted for 20 years. Granted, not steady professional gigging, but likely at least 60 take downs and set ups. As for the new stand: It is of lighter metal in general. But still sturdy. Each of the tiers have double pieces and I was able to omit the middle portion and only use the arms (top portion) directly attached to the bottom/legs portion. That works with my keyboard set up. I didn't need or want the top keyboard to be miles above the lower keyboard or at a steep angle, etc. I was disappointed that the height adjustment of the lower keys is kind of limited. Either it is high for just about standing, or lower than what I was used to with the old one. But I adjusted my stool and am now used to the different height. As per other commenters, the tier screw/bolts do not appear to be as strong as those on my old stand. Therefore I am keeping the top tiers in their already adjusted position when transporting it. That means I have to be careful about moving it because it is "wider" when folded up, but at least I don't have to unscrew and rescrew the top tier bolts, which hopefully will keep the stand usable for several years.

And another important issue for me: The bottom lateral metal bars/bottom bars of the stand extend outwards from the "back" of the stand about a foot or so. If you place the stand against a wall, the keyboards are a foot or so from the wall. That's a lot of wasted space. So I cut them and reset the rubber boots. It's no problem with stability at all. Keyboards are closer to the wall and still sturdy.

Not pro quality but good enough for hobby or light gigging. If a pro, buy pro.

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Heavy Duty X Keyboard Stand:

Pretty nice stand overall, but there are some issues to be aware of. It may depend on the stand you get given the somewhat poor consistency in manufacturing quality, but the first one I bought was very far from flat when sitting on a flat floor. I had to return this one (to another vendor). The second one (from MF) was better in terms of how it sat on the floor, but the 2nd tier is impossible to make flat and level. This is not really surprising given the design; the adjustments are not continuous, but instead are constrained by the "teeth" on the adjustment locks. So things have to line up within pretty close tolerances to have the 2nd tier hold anything flat and level. Mine is pretty far from flat and level, and I've tried a number of different configurations. Given that, it is still usable and works well enough for my purposes (Smallish Korg R3 on 1st tier, 17" laptop on 2nd tier).

great stand, hardware could use some work....

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Heavy Duty X Keyboard Stand:

an 8 out of ten is very good!
the knobs for tightening the top tier are weak and mine broke after the second tear down. I replaced them but these could use some re-tooling.
aside from that, a great stand!

The ONLY one for SEATED PRACTICE

      By cosmo lee

      from New York City

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Heavy Duty X Keyboard Stand:

Compared to other stands, this Quik-Lok is the ONLY one I can use for seated practice. Its minimum height is 23", while all the other ones are 26" or even 28+"(!), which is too high for me when playing seated. It makes a BIG difference because a high stand can put your wrists at an uncomfortable angle to play with. The last thing you want is to be playing for hours at a bad playing angle.I'm surprised that the other manufacturers haven't noticed this. It's as if they've never tested the stands for use while playing sitting. Or maybe they used high chairs. For any prospective stand you are considering purchasing, I would try testing the playing angle sitting in your own chair. Take the the height of the stand, add the extra inches that your keyboard will add, then see how your hands feel angled at that height. You may want to check the manufacturer's web site to get the measurements of each individual height setting for accurate estimation. For seated practice, this one feature makes this model the only viable keyboard stand for me.

Very solid and sturdy stand. The top tier is very adjustable (height, width, how far forward) so you can get it right where you want it. Easy to set up and folds quickly. I am very pleased with this stand.

      Finally A Truly Adjustable Stand

      By Docc501

      from Kansas City, MO

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Heavy Duty X Keyboard Stand:

I recently purchased the Quik Lok Heavy Duty Two Tier Keyboard Stand. First of all, Heavy Duty barely describes it. This stand is easily the strongest most stable "X" style keyboard stand I've ever seen. For those who are tired of not having TRUE flexibility in their second tier, this one solves that problem. Finally a stand where you can raise or, more importantly to me, lower the second tier to a height where YOU want it, not where the manufacturer thinks it should be. Also you can adjust the 2nd tier to bring the keyboard closer or push it farther away, your choice. Most "X" stands allow you to angle your second tier but the Ultimate stand I used before this does not. THIS stand allows you to angle the second tier to a comfortable position for YOUR use. There are a couple of drawbacks. Straight out of the box, several of the plastic tighteners were not finished well with sharp points sticking out making it difficult to tighten. I had to get a small file and knock these off myself to keep from getting cut. In addition this stand is not easy to set up and tear down. I'm hopeful that it will get easier with time but it is bulky and much heavier than most stands available. That having been said, this is definitely the sturdiest, strongest keyboard stand I've owned in 30 years of performance and offers the most flexibility in a second tier of any stand I've found on the market. Though bulky, it is exceptionally stable and flexible. If you're a serious working keyboard player who wants your boards to sit still where YOU want them to sit, this stand is for you.
