Comments about Rotosound RS77LE Heavy Gauge Jazz Bass Monel Flat Wound Strings:

These are just what I needed for my "neck-through" custom build. The higher tension stopped the "clacking" I was experiencing with other sets from other manufacturers. One thing to keep in mind...be gentle when stringing...don't bring up to tune quickly...be patient...you'll love'em!

Comments about Rotosound RS77LE Heavy Gauge Jazz Bass Monel Flat Wound Strings:

Strings sound and feel great! Even using them in drop D and half a step down, they're still very high tension, and I had to file out the nut to make them fit (because they're so thick). I may decide to move one gauge lighter, but these definitely accomplished my goals of eliminating fret buzz, feeling much smoother, and reducing high mid / treble output. Definitely worth buying if you want high tension flat wounds for drop tunings.

Comments about Rotosound RS77LE Heavy Gauge Jazz Bass Monel Flat Wound Strings:

I got interested in these English strings after a interview with this Entwistle guy who said, "They sound a bit like a grand piano and a really big kettle drum at the same time. And they sound good soft or loud." 35 years later, I only play these strings. They are used by just about every pro I have known. I don't know why they do, but they do sound BETTER, like a supercharged Bentley.
