OVERVIEW

Dressed up in black nylons.

Gauges: .065-.075-.100-.115. Long scale.

The 'Black Nylon Tru Bass' Strings were originally developed to simulate a double bass sound on an electric bass. These RotoSound strings made their most famous appearance on top of the 'Apple' building while Paul McCartney was playing his Hofner bass. You will note that the tension is low, making this string extremely comfortable to play.

Smooth as Silk

By bill kuhn

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

These strings feel great and sound closer to an Upright Bass.
I put these on my Takamine 512 and love the way they sound and feel. Hardly any volume decrease over the bronze strings, they were louder than I expected. Only problem I had was drilling out the hole a little to fit the E string.

Much differnt than what Im used to.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

I usually use Rotosound Funkmaster strings On my Epiphone EB-3 and it sounds great, But I recently bought An allen woody bass and The funkmasters sounded Horrid, So I looked at these and My bass sounds Like The bass line From "hey Bulldog" by the Beatles, I have to say Im not buying Thses from now on and They have to be at least 2times more Comfortable than The funk masters. If U Like The sound of a "Tru Bass" U will love these strings and for the money they are a steal

Great Strings to Make your P-Bass Sound VIntage

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

I was looking to make my P-Bass sound more or less like an upright. These strings did the trick.Previously I tried some Fender flats. The Fenders sounded too metallic. However, these Rotosounds make the bass sound deep and thumpy. An added benefit is that these strings feel great. They are very smooth but not slippery. If you are looking to give your bass a warm mellow sound, these strings will do the trick. Slappers and poppers look elsewhere!

Great sound!

By PluggedAcoustic

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

Gives the closest sound to a good, worn in set of Pirazzi's...nice dark sound, great response, and loose enough not to completely tire you out. I'm an upright bassist that happens to own an electric...and i'll keep coming back to these flatwounds!

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

On my 5 string Michael Kelly acoustic/electric bass these strings give me more of the upright bass type of sound I want.
    Very easy on the fingers.
The down side is the price. I have a set of Fender nylon coated round wounds on an Ibanez acoustic/electric which cost 1/2 as much, have good sound and are almost as easy on the fingers.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

I have played on many strings and there is absolutely nothing that can compare with the "RS 88". All the "other" strings I've tried sound like "thread". And since I use the "RS 88" on my Electric Basses exclusivly, I call them: "My Strings".

    WOW!!

    By MJLuke

    from NM

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

I absolutely love these strings. I've been playing fretless bass exclusively since 1995 -in various rock, alternative, praise/worship, and jazz bands. In trying to achieve a darker "up-right" sound; I've tried just about every brand of flatwound strings with VERY little if any noticeable difference between brands until I tried these nylonwounds from Rotosound. I like a really rich/ dark tone --which these nylonwound strings provide in spades without sacrificing clarity on the high end like most of the flatwounds I've tried tend to do. And they feel like silk!!!

    Deep bass sound

    By colby1

    from Bowling Green, KY

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

These strings are the fattest sounding strings I've used. They also have that growl of an upright. Plus these things look great against a maple fretboard. They also produce beautiful harmonics. They are perfect for home studio recording to get that deep bass sound!

    great strings!!!!!!!

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

the rotosound trubass strings are great!! they sound really really really good and are really good for blues, jazz, and rock. there is one bad thing about them though, since the e string is 115 in size, your nut on the bass may not be wide enough to fit it. when i put my e string on and tightend it the nut snaped of and i had to super glue it back on so just be careful about that. other than that, these strings are great

    Black nylons

    By Goswin

    from Nakkila

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

I bought a cheap jazzstick which I decided to turn fretless, and after reading about these strings I decided to try them. So, off the roundwounds went and installing these was a breeze. They feel light and, surprisingly, "plastic". At first they sound a little quiet and dull, but after a break-in and ear training the sound really reminds acoustic. Easy on the fingers and fast, responsive playability. For heavy rock and the reggae stuff I would try something else, but anything more earthly will sound quite pleasing. I shall constantly have one bass stringed with these from now on. I give them a 4 because I want to reserve for something really phenomenal, but I really think You should try these. I know I like them and for Me, they are a keeper.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

Put these on a Hofner, use a flatpick, and you'll sound exactly like Paul's bass on the last three Beatles albums! They really get that standup "thump" - BIG bass, a dip in the midrange, and a surprising amount of treble. They're sublime on my fretless P-bass, too!

    Breakthrough String Technology

    By Ovid

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

One of the most innovative creations for the bass, these monsters boast some amazing features. First off, they have the largest gauge of any guitar strings - producing a deep resonating tone. Its timbre is not like any other strings; it has a distinct "bwaang" to it that is a result of its nylon coating. The nylon coating also helps reduce finger noise - though, not entirely noise-proof, it is particularly useful when sliding your fingers up and down the neck. This is the single most useful upgrade for your bass.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

Put these on Ibanez acoustic bass and they feel very nice. Used alotta different strings on this bass before and never satisfied but now I am. With onboard e/q I can dial back the bottom for more definition. No screechiness, more fundamental bass tone. After putting on the E and A didn't seem to intone and tune right so I did take a sharp carpet knife and carefully cut the nut slots a little wider not deeper and now they've settled in. Theres less tension on these so even though theyre larger theyre still easy to play. Another reason I didn't put these on any of my other basses is because they don't ground to the bridge like regular strings due to the nylon wrap. Apparantly others use them anyway on their Fender style basses but to me that's an issue. So I do like these but for my acoustic only. Thomastik Infeld jazz flats may be better for this bass or others with no grounding issues but theyre a different more middy tone , not nylon and cost nearly 3 times more so tone wise and feel wise I am happier with these Rotosound Trubass black nylons.

    Not For P Bass

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

No offense to you jazz guys but these strings sound like plastic on a P Bass. The strings are well made but very dull. I am really disappointed. The 8250 Super Bass Strings that came with this 2009 American P Bass blow these Rotosound RS88LD's away. This was $ down the drain. Lesson learned!
