Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

My wife uses these on her Jerry Jones Longhorn bass. I get to put them on. They must have done something to the ends of the strings because they went thru the peg heads very easy this time. In the past,I had to scrape the binding away, even on the short scale strings.

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I love these strings. However, what I want to mention is that I bought short scale strings for my epiphone viola which has a short scale neck. What I didn't know was that the trapeze tailpiece requires medium length strings. Bad discovery. I emailed Muscian's Friend, and they gave me a refund even though the issue was my ignorance. Thanks MusFrnd.

Put these strings on my short scale Gibson SG. I've never played on nylon strings, but now I don't want to play on anything else! They are very smooth to the touch. The tone is different, too - again, very smooth, sounding more like an upright. There's no squeaking sliding up and down the strings, and not much fret noise when banging. I am ordering extra strings for this bass, as well as changing my other strings on my other 4!

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I read the reviews and knowing that my Contemporary (violin bass) is supposed to be German spec, purchased these thinking I wouldn't have to file the nut. Well I didn't have to file the nut, but the black ends before the strings reach the nut. The metal wound part fits fine, but I was afraid these were too short. If the black nylon covering went past the nut I would have had to file the nut on the E and maybe the A.

I decided to string it up anyway, and the sound is excellent. I played it for hours as if it were a new instrument. I suppose because the nylon wound part finishes just before the nut I might have to always retune the bass before playing, but so far (about a month) it has been managable and a pleasure to play them.

I love these strings. I put them on my Gibson SG short scale bass. The sound is thick and strong. I like these for that '60's British Invasion sound. I am not a slapper or popper, I like smooth tasteful bass lines that enhance the other instruments. Sliding up and down the neck with these strings is fun. These strings fit the bill for garage rock, blues or even jazz.

Contrary to Sheryl's review, in order to use these with my Hofner Ignition Violin Bass or "Beatle Bass", I had to file the nut. They didn't fit at all. Once filed and applied, these things are great. The sound is warm and rich and and I'd never played such comfortable strings in all my 15 years of playing.

I put these stings on my Gibson SG Bass. They are thicker than the stock strings that came with the bass. The tech who put them on for me had to file the nut a little because these strings are thick. Once on I tried them out and was amazed at the thick deep sounds I was getting. They are so easy to play, they have opened up a whole new aspect to my playing. I am old school, no slapping or popping. These stings are made for that 60's garage sound as well as all forms of jazz and blues. I love 'em and will now fit all my other basses with these.

Never used nylons before, but got these for my battered Gibson EB-3 based on reviews ( and lack of short-scale options). I didn't think the EB-3 could get easier to play, but it did- the smooth strings give my fingers a real break. They sound warm and full w/ fingers and punchy with a pick. Not very slap-happy, so I wouldn't recommend these if you are in a Bootsy Collins cover band- but if you can play like Bootsy, you don't need my advice anyway.
