Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I love these strings. I put them on my Gibson SG short scale bass. The sound is thick and strong. I like these for that '60's British Invasion sound. I am not a slapper or popper, I like smooth tasteful bass lines that enhance the other instruments. Sliding up and down the neck with these strings is fun. These strings fit the bill for garage rock, blues or even jazz.

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

Contrary to Sheryl's review, in order to use these with my Hofner Ignition Violin Bass or "Beatle Bass", I had to file the nut. They didn't fit at all. Once filed and applied, these things are great. The sound is warm and rich and and I'd never played such comfortable strings in all my 15 years of playing.

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I put these stings on my Gibson SG Bass. They are thicker than the stock strings that came with the bass. The tech who put them on for me had to file the nut a little because these strings are thick. Once on I tried them out and was amazed at the thick deep sounds I was getting. They are so easy to play, they have opened up a whole new aspect to my playing. I am old school, no slapping or popping. These stings are made for that 60's garage sound as well as all forms of jazz and blues. I love 'em and will now fit all my other basses with these.

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

Never used nylons before, but got these for my battered Gibson EB-3 based on reviews ( and lack of short-scale options). I didn't think the EB-3 could get easier to play, but it did- the smooth strings give my fingers a real break. They sound warm and full w/ fingers and punchy with a pick. Not very slap-happy, so I wouldn't recommend these if you are in a Bootsy Collins cover band- but if you can play like Bootsy, you don't need my advice anyway.

            1 Set of strings - 2 basses

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

This is my second set of Rotosound Trubass strings A few years from now that I'll replace them.
I first had these on an Ibanaz short - scale solid body. I played on them for over 2 years. Recently, I bought a Hofner Beatle Bass. While waiting for the strings to arrive from Musicians Friend,
I took the strings off of my Ibanez and but them on the Hofner. They sound great! So I'll keep the new ones in the package.
Black nylon Tapewound. Fits Hofner Violin Bass perfectly
One set lasted for 2 Basses

If you own a violin bass----

            By Duke

            from Athens, Texas

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

What more can I say ? In the words of Joe Meek "If it sounds good,it is good".
These are a MUST HAVE if you own a Hofner style bass. They give you the sound heard on hundreds of recordings from the 60's and 70's. They will make a hollow body bass sound like what it was designed to sound like.
I too put these on a Jay Turser like a reviewer below and I also must warn you that you will have to have the nut filed slightly for the E and A strings to seat correctly. If you don't have the proper tools or skills to do this then take it to a professional. It's a small price to pay but it will be well worth it.
These are the ONLY strings I will use on my "Beatle Bass". When I bought this bass (used) it had roundwounds on it and it sounded awful with them. After I dressed the nut, set the string height and intonation all I did was smile!!! It sounded AMAZING!!!
            Sound Great---Feel Great---Retro look---I'm Happy!!!
I will give a 10 here since they are pricey but the sound I get is well worth the $$$$$.

            sweet strings man

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

Yeah, I have a musicmaster from the earlyeighties. I bought it with strings it probablyhad for a long while. I never really cared for them. Years later I finally decided to finally get a new pair. I like them, a lot. Rotosound makes some good strings definetely give them a chance even if you're you're not going to buy these in particular.Short scale strings seem hard to come buyonly a few companies make some that are worth while. I was missing the punch.these seemed to have solved the problem.features are a 4. I don't really care for the black. but whatever.make your axe growl.get them booties shaking.some sweet strings man.

            Rotosound String User Since 1973

            By 12Stringman-tCJp4

            from Louisiana

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I began using Rotosound bass strings in 1973. The black nylon strings are very durable, sound fantastic, and stand up to any playing style or music. The bass I use them on is a 1959 Gibson EBO (short scale neck 30.5" length). For a novice user the nylon strings are easier on the fingers, for the seasoned player they meet your needs regardless of the musical genre you are playing. Sure, they cost more than regular nickel wound strings, but the sound and life of these strings more than makes up for it!

            Monster Sound!!

            By Who8themoon

Comments about Rotosound RS88S Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Standard Gauge Short Scale Bass Strings:

I put these strings on a Jay Turser violin bass. I replaced a set of Fender flat wounds which I thought made my bass sing. I was wrong. These strings give my violin bass a huge sound! WARNING: You will have to modify your nut for these puppies they are large, in my humble opinion well worth it, cause I'll never go back.
