Not totally happy

These things were stuck together so bad that they started to tear! Almost had to throw them away! It might have just been a bad batch. They do work though.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I was looking to get rid of the overtones in my floor and mounted tom wothout having to look at towels inside of the drums. The moon gel works great and enhanced the sound I was looking for out of my set. Easy to use and apply.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

Great innovative and simple product that absolutely KILLS ringing.
After fighting with ringing for years, this was all it took to fix it?!?!? Little flexible pieces of sticky silicone?!?! I am in love. I just discarded the plastic circle ringy things that I've used and fought with for years (ever hit them with the sticks and they fall off, mid-show?) They need to advertise more as I just NOW found them and put them on my drums. I have one little square on each of my heads (Remo Pinhead Toms and Evans Dry Snare) and that's all I need.

Does a good job cutting out some high end overtones in toms and muffling ring tones in snares. Also, they're clean, no adhesive, and they can be easily cut. Sometimes I use them on my cymbals.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

These damnpening gels blew my aquarian studio rings out of the water, the rings were good, but they vibrated and rang every time I hit my toms. So, I thought why not try these, and they work great. The moon gels get rid of unwanted tones without creating more problems.

          Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels

          By bryan santino

          from Oregon, U.S.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

Cost to product ratio: Overall "stick and forget" product. Never have to wory about them falling off or flying off with drum sticks like the rings do. Do have to worry about drum sticks sticking to them though... so watch where you put them.
Is it worth it? YES!! Best mutes i've used for the price. They reduce enough to keep a solid tone, drop the pitch just enough, stay out of the way, never fall off, unnoticeable (Remo Ebony ambassador head, easy to see on white and clear,) and they worked wonderfully on all my toms and snares everything from 8" to 18." I put 1 gel on each head on every tom (The 18" needed 2 to get the best result,) and 1 gel on the top head of each snare. (sounds amazing!)
I used some on cymbals... didnt sound to great... obviously... just had to see. But sounds great with cowbells. (I use 1 in my Pearl HH cowbells.)
Can always be cut to reduce effect!
Case, washable, reuseable, and work great for their size. What more would you want? (read "overall" for more...)
Great quality. Hard to rip, easy to wash (toss in dishwasher,) can be cut for exact tone, they come with a case, work outstandingly, and are an overall fantastic product.
          A little cost high for 4: 1.5" x 1" x 1/8" gel strips. But it's worth it.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I debated whether or not to buy these for a long time. After using "studio rings" for years, I wanted something that would offer more control. By changing the position on the drumhead, different levels of dampening can be achieved.
This couldn't be easier to use. It's a tacky gel pad, about an inch by an inch and a quarter. It sticks to the drumhead and stays put. There is an advantage to using the Gel Pads over "studio ring" type dampening, because you can adjust the effect depending on how close to the edge you place them, whereas "studio rings" are either "on or off".
The instructions say to just rinse the Pads with mild soap and water, and let them "air dry", and they'll last indefinitely.
There are four pads in a small pill box type container. Enough for an average kit.

An Epic and Afforable device that will be around for years!

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I've used this product religiously since the first time I tried it. A lot of people say that people use them to hide not being able to tune drums. This is total hogwash. The moon gels really only dampen over tones if the drums are tuned to a pitch. If you want to hide your inability to tune, buy the rings.

I like low, popping toms, so I tune my toms as low as I can get them with the batter head just slightly above resonating tension, and then I stick one of these on, and achieve my dream sound.
I use one on each tom, and two on my snare drum.

So if you like punchy drums with a lot of attack, this product is definately for you. It gives your drums fast attack, a lot of pop, and lets them retain their full volume. I really can't give these enough credit.
They're very easily cared for. Wash them every few weeks if you leave them on the drums. If not, just put them back in their case after each use. I've used them for going on six months, and they're in just as good of shape as the day I took them out of the case.
Very long lasting and worth the money. They never get in your way, and don't create much of an eyesore on your drums.
Actually worth more than you pay for them. I think they're like 7 bucks on musicians friends, but I have to wait on them to ship. When I need them in a hurry, I have to run to a local music store. Here they cost about 10 dollars a pack. I don't mind paying the little extra, because they last so long.

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I love them. They control the ring but keep a slight ring so it's not just a dry drum. Amazing quality and I love using them for gigs and practicing. Only thing that is bad is the way they are packaged, they clump together but if your carful not to rip them then is fine.
