OVERVIEW

Blackout the bad hum, crank up the tone.

The Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts 8-String pickup set offers the same amazing 9V active pickup setup as their 6-string Blackouts. The 8-string versions use balanced inputs with a differential preamp for reduced noise. Duncan Blackouts pickups are voiced for heavy rock with greater dynamic range, less scooped mids, and less compression than other active pickups.

The 8-string Blackouts are available here as a calibrated neck and bridge pickup set. Seymour Duncan includes 25K pots, stereo jack, battery clip and other mounting hardware. These are electric guitar pickups perfect for old school metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles.

Seymour Duncan Blackouts humbuckers provide more extended frequency response with less compression. Seymour Duncan engineers have captured the tone guitarists want in an active guitar pickup with the benefits of balanced inputs.

Not only do Seymour Duncan Blackouts have less hum than most active humbuckers, they also have more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Duncan Blackouts have more tone than most active pickups. Players will find far fewer problems with hum, especially near computer monitors and fluorescent lighting.

Seymour Duncan Blackouts pickups include all necessary mounting hardware, such as pots, jack, and a battery clip.

FEATURES

Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1s 8-String Blackouts Neck and Bridge Set:

I have owned my Schecter Damien Elite 8 string for two years now and though I love the guitar (and still do) the stock EMG 808 pickups just weren't cutting it. My regular six strings were getting good sound but the bottom rwo were muddy and I rarely used them. It was time for a change. Had these put into the guitar and within seconds of plugging in I noiced a difference. The low end was so clear and tight, I found myself using it more in the riffs I wrote. The regular 6 strings sounded warmer and the mids and highs were vastly improved, the highs were even screaming at points. The harmonics sounded better and the neck pickup didn't lose it's touch when distortion was applied. The cleans are pretty standard, nothing to write home about but still get the job done..but if you're purchasing something like Seynour Duncan Blackouts I don't think yiou're after perfect clean jazz tone (though I can get a really crisp sound from the neck pickup when I do my fusion lunes). All-in-all when it comes to 8 string pickups you can't go wrong witht hese. They really shape your axe into a beast from the very depths of hell, can't recommend them enough.

Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1s 8-String Blackouts Neck and Bridge Set:

I have a schecter damien elite 8 string but wasn't happy with the muddy sounding EMG 808s so I ordered this set, installed it (love the snap connector) and now the tone is so much better, the lower strings are more defined and tighter while the higher strings are still warm and articulate (no shrill tone on the high end). I love the sound these pickups give me, I'm now going to order the 7 string set for my RG7 and the six string sets as well, great product seymour duncan!

Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1s 8-String Blackouts Neck and Bridge Set:

I have to admit that I am not a lover of active pickups per se. I have owned guitars with EMGs before and never really got the hype. Maybe it just does not fit my playing style.

After the recent purchase of an guitar with their own crummy version of active pickups, I decided to give the Blackouts a chance. I was very pleased with the response and the lack of tinny tone quality. Needless to say, it was a vast improvement over the existing pickups. It is obviously different because it was in an 8string, but they are much more true to reality that I remember the EMGs to have been.

          I love these pickups

Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1s 8-String Blackouts Neck and Bridge Set:

These came pre-installed in my Schecter C8 Blackjack ATX. I absolutely love the sound of these pickups. I have never been a huge active fan of active pickups since most of them sound so sterile but the Blackouts are totally different. They sound warm, smooth, and have a ton of definition. They can growl and scream and also sing depending on how you play. Since I also own a Schecter C8 Hellraiser with the competitions version of an active 8 string humbucker I can say with authority that these are my favorite.
