The Seymour Duncan APH-2n Alnico II Pro Slash Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup honors the guitar hero with his first signature pickup. The Slash neck pickup's tone is familiar to all who have heard Slash's recorded tone. Though he has dozens of amazing guitars, since 1986 Slash has used pretty much one very special Les Paul for all recording. The Alnico II Pro Slash was designed to give Slash's other Les Paul guitars (what he calls his "live guitars") the exact tone of his legendary instrument.
Like the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, which Slash has used for years, the Slash neck humbucker uses an Alnico II magnet. However, the Alnico II Pro Slash pickup is wound with just enough boosted output to push a stock Les Paul toward the sweet sustain and rude crunch that characterizes Slash's sound. In addition, the Seymour Duncan APH-2n pickup boasts some of the same appointments found on the Duncan pickups seen in Slash's '86 recording axe: a single-conductor cable, a long-legged bottom plate, and a wooden spacer. For true fans, or for players who want to capture Slash's recorded tone, this pickup is a critical part of the tone chain. The Seymour Duncan APH-2n Alnico II is same pickup found in the newest Gibson Slash model Les Paul guitar.
With the ubiquitous top hat and shades, mop of black curls obscuring his face, and a blazing electric guitar tone blasting through a wall of amps, Slash epitomizes the very reasons we first air-strummed a low-slung tennis racquet in the privacy of our bedroom. For over 3 decades he has relied on Seymour Duncan pickups for his guitar tone.
Applications:
Warm, moderate-output humbucker. Recommended for jazz, blues, and classic rock.
Complete setup:
The Slash aficionado will use a pair of these pickups to capture that unmistakable tone. This pickup matches well with the SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue all-tube overdrive-distortion stompbox (sold separately) for singing leads and authoritative chording.
Guitars:
While designed for use in a Les Paul, this pickup works well in any well-balanced humbucker-equipped guitar. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.
The Alnico II Pro Slash is hand built in Seymour Duncan's Santa Barbara, California workshop and includes all mounting hardware. Recommended for the neck position.

At first install I did not totally like the Slash pickups neck and bridge, that I installed in a Gibson Les Paul studio . They did sound great on heavy rock / super humbucker rock leads and rythm, but I could not get a good twang sound . I had the guitar set with switches to go from one type Capaciter to another and that was not much of an advantage at all. I'm so used to the versatility of the Les Paul Traditional Pro with single coil option,also another paul with Seymour Duncan Prails wich are p90s ,strat single coil , traditional humbucker and higher gain humbucker with the seymour duncan pickup ring switches . I started reading forums and finding out about the Slash signature guitars and found out about 50s wiring and orange drop sprague caps , so I decided to revisit these pickups and I'm glad I did ! I wired the guitar with switches so I could go from (modern wiring) to (50s wiring )and Orange Drop Sprague caps ,now I really like these pickups alot! The 50s wiring is a bit more trebly , less midrange and bottom so it takes you close to the single coil sound when needed ! The bridge pickup has a better humbucker sound than the average Gibson humbucker but it cleans up well too with the ability to go from 50s wiring to modern , that I would not change because both of these wiring methods are usefull for more tonal options .Internet research through message boards etc .,really can give you great ideas to try out! I also use a Presonus mic preamp set unity gain to warm things up and a Boss compressor .

Before purchasing the Seymour Duncan APH-2n Alnico II Pro Slash Humbuckers I was a little skeptical. after playing them on the other hand, they are fantastic pickups. They are great for classical rock, blues, and of course Guns 'n' Roses.
