For that searing, crushing Dimebag tone!

The Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker is an electric guitar pickup that helps you make your own metal massacre tone. It uses a powerful ceramic magnet coupled with stainless steel blades to generate a take-no-prisoners attitude. The secret to Dime's crunch is the small amount of metal mass in the core of the pickup. This allows both high D.C. resistance and a high resonant peak. The result: a high-output, aggressive humbucker with lots of treble bite and clarity, combined with punchy bass response and exceptional dynamics. The SH13 Dimebucker is perfect for hard rock and heavy metal.

      Features

      • Small metal mass in core produces aggressive, high-output with treble bite and clarity, and punchy bass response

The Dimebucker is really a fantastic alternative to the Bill Lawrence pickup used in the original Dean Dime From Hell guitar. It replicates the output, tone, clarity, and versatility of the original with extreme accuracy and no compromises in quality or any other area. I installed this pickup in my Washburn Dime (it's the top end 333 model in black), and it perfectly replicates every aspect of the Bill Lawrence pickup Dime used in his Dean. I've tested them side-by-side through a number of different amps with many different effects and always come up with the same result: Perfection! I usually play mine through a BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone and a Marshall Zakk Wylde mini stack and a Fender Roc-Pro 1000 combo using a signal splitter so both amps are active at the same time. Results are tonal clarity, perfect equalizer settings for metal, blues, and rock, as well as fantastic performance both clean and overdriven/distorted. I've found this to be a very versatile pickup, but I mostly play metal with it. Install is a breeze if you follow the instructions or if you already know what you are doing. Custom installs (like coil-splitting or coil-tapping) are also an option, which is nice. Bottom line, great pickup for any metal fan (especially Pantera/Damageplan/Dime fans) with great tone, versatility, and high output. Highly recommended. The attached picture is of the Washburn Dime 333 in a different finish and without the Dimebucker, but it was the only publicly available picture I could find of an example of the amazing Washburn Dime 333.

Put this in my Les Paul , replacing a Dimarzio Super Distortion. Loved the SD, but was looking to change it up after 30 years. What a disappointment! The tone was good, but compared to the Dimarzio, this pick up sounded weak. Im going back to my SD,and staying with Dimarzios from now on.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker Pickup:

This pickup is quite misunderstood, so let me start by saying that this pickup has a LOT of presence, so dial that back on your amp or it will just kill your ears, crank your mids and your bass, and adjust treble accordingly. Next, get a noise gate, because once you get loud enough to go over drums, its just gonna be a mess unless you like to ride your volume knob the whole time. And finally, be judicious on your gain knob, mine is on 7 on the crunch channel, and 5 on the lead channel. This may sound like quite the pain in the rear, but the dimebucker can nail the hot rodded Van Halen sound, And if you put it through a tweed, it can do a great blues tone as well, too many people are maxing the gain on cheap practice amps and expecting the Pantera sound, that WILL make this pickup sound bad. Use a Quality tube amp, and a good MAHOGHANY guitar (its what it was designed for) and you will dig this pickup!!

Have the Dimebucker in my US custom fat strat. Lil 59 er and a JBJunior. Dime at the bridge of course . Super hot and cutting but just to bright and shimmering. My strat is all blonde ash with a maple fretboard so that doesn't help. Going to replace it with a TB 4 (JB 4 for trm) .

I was able to get this pickup used CHEAP on christmas for 35 so there was no way I couldn't get it.

Enough about that more on the pickup, The cleans are okay, nothing special just a bit below average, but distortion makes this pickup shine.

Installation was cake, when swapped and I plugged in I actually didn't notice any improvments and honestly my guitar just sounded muddy and terrible, but after about 3 hours tinkering with the EQ on my solid state Marshall and the EQ on my RP70 I was able to clean up the sound and notice a dramatic improvment. soloing or playing lead with this pickup is not recomended just sounds a little too cold and sharp but im sure thats just a matter of opinion. But the chukiness that you can get for rhythm is beutiful as I mainly play Hard Rock and Metal. A overall solid pickup.

I bought this as an alternative to active pickups, and this is nothing short of awesome! If you want a pickup that is just short of "hot" than this is the pickup for you. You get a great volume boost when switching to this thing, it has great tone, and works great on lead for harmonics, tapping, etc. I use this for Van Halen, Sabbath, Pantera, and anything else where you need some punch! You will not be disappointed by this pickup!

I wrote a review on the L500XL (same pickup) already so I figured I would do one on this pup as well. Pretty much the hottest pickup I have ever played on. Great for lead, brutal chugging rhythm riffage, and sweet dive bombs if you have treolo on your axe. I like it evenly to Dimarzio's D-Activator X's which are cheaper.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker Pickup:

I had this pickup lying around in an old guitar I hadn't played in several years, recently acquired a new guitar and decided to give this pickup another go and see how I like it again. The result is just too much treble and very hard to get a good chug when palm muting that cuts through. The sound is just very grainy. I could see someone playing black metal liking this for the screeching tone or playing in a low tuning (C-standard?) where the bass would be more prominent. But playing in standard (or even D-standard) its just a little too much treble for me. I must say I'm a bit disappointed considering it carries Dime's name on the product, I don't think you could really get close to his tone unless you dropped a bunch of money on high-end gear that could compress the sound.

This pickup sounds like heaven!!! It honestly sounds better than an EMG 81. The dimebucker sounds so much angrier than the emg 81. It has so much sustain. The tone is the so amazing! In fact its so angry you might need stitches! dont waste your time on routing out a hole in the body of your guitar and just get this. You'll love it!
