I bought this pickup to replace the p-100 in my (2000) Gibson les Paul special. I compared my LP to my friends Gibson LP special w/ p-90's...What a difference! The p-90 blew my p-100 away!!! The p-100's lacked the bite that the p-90's have. Anyways, due to availability, and much research, I bought the vintage seymour duncan Sp-90 (Bridge) over the Gibson p-90. I'm confident that I made the right choice. Installation was easy; I had the guitar rocking in about 45 min. This pickup wails!!! Clean channel is great. Distorted has a little buzz but, It's a single coil...What do you expect? I would recommend this pick up to anyone considering the swap. You won't be disappointed!!!

After a lot of pickup research I decided to go with the SP90 in my custom lap steel. I could't be happier. Yes, the 60 cycle hum is there, but I can deal with it since the tone is so great. I previously had the duncan performer installed in the lap steel and its like night and day. The duncan performer sounded very muddy, great for blues, but muddy. This SP90 is clear thru all spectrums and the sustain is great! I'd also like to add that my pickup was missing one of the mounting screws, which is a screw you can't just find at your local hardware store. I emailed seymour duncan about it and within a few days they sent me 2 screws, without even questioning me about it. I'm very pleased with Seymours customer service. I do think the pickup is a bit pricey, but when it sounds this great and when the customer service is so great, I guess you pay for what you get!
