OVERVIEW

A high output, true single-coil pickup that's ideal for a distinct vintage tone heard in blues rock, classic rock, and heavy rock.

The Seymour Duncan SSl-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup is a high output, true single-coil electric guitar pickup for warm instruments. it's a perfect match for Texas blues rock, classic rock, and heavy rock.

Though the SSL-5 looks like the Seymour Duncan SSL-1 and has that distinct vintage tone, the SSL-5's over-wound coil yields higher output, more sustain, and great harmonics. The result is a pickup that rocks hard and cuts through the mix, but cleans up nicely when you back off the volume. Includes white cover.

Complete setup:
Many players use an Seymour Duncan SSL-5 pickup in the bridge position with vintage output pickups, like SSL-1's, in the neck and middle for tonal versatility.

Guitars:
For heavier and brighter-toned instruments with ash or alder bodies. Works well with maple or rosewood fingerboards.

Players:
Nick Lashley, Alanis Morissette, Mick Jagger, Rickey Medlocke, Mike Estes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Wallflowers.

For higher output, more sustain, and great harmonics from your guitar, you'll want to buy the SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single Coil Bridge Pickup today.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

Do not wanna put the knock on a popular pup, just be carefull when you chose a Strat bridge pickup, be very sure about the style of music you expect to capture; there are no silver bullets, one size does not fit all, do the research, think it through, if you are running hotter neck and mid pups, the SSL-5 will probably not work, Please note: Alnico 5 magnet pups in our time can be edgy, many players prefer the pucnch, but it comes at a price, 5's are not always so smooth! So be very careful if you intend to mix them with other magnet types, especially the common bar magnet pups, the tone difference between the two designs may create problems in overall balance and output! Hope this helps!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

I was having challenges getting a nice lead tone and chunky rhythm sound. I replaced the stock single coil bridge pickup with this and now my sound options are complete. The pickup looks like stock except the manufacturer's logo, but has much more gain. I would not be able to go back to stock.

          Clear punchy classic Strat tone

          By Octavio Manduley

          from Virginia

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

The SSL-5 pickup has a bit more punch than the pups that came installed in my '93 American Standard Stratocaster. When pushed, the mid to low bias string stagger allows you to get a little more grind out of your amp, great for blues and rock. While it cuts through a bit more than my old bridge pickup, it's overall tone quality matches and compliments the tone of my original Fender pups. When you roll off a little volume, you still get all the sheen and warmth of great single coil pickup. I can see why Fender selected this pickup for the bridge of their new David Gilmour Custom Shop guitar. If you want to know what this pickup sounds like, just listen to some of David's classic Pink Floyd stuff. I couldn't be happier with this pickup in my guitar!

          Fantastic pickup

          By SC

          from Syracuse, NY

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

This is one of those rare pickups that sounds fantastic clean, but it can also rock wonderfully. So many pickups just seem to do one or the other, but this covers all the bases. The SSL-5 also pulls of amazing sounding harmonics more easily and beautifully than any other pickup I've owned. I recommend the version that you can tap...it gives you the option to have a little more 'quack' in the 2nd position. If you're a Gilmour fan or not, you really can't go wrong with this in the bridge of your strat.

SSL-5 Great Pickup 4 the Price

          By Ziggystar

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

I read the commits from SD then I called them to find out the facts, this pickup can be used in any position and sound excellant so thats what I did 1-neck 1-mid with a SH-4 JB in the bridge with p/p switch. These r true as you can get for a good fender sound and b quiet , it dont tell you that but SD will I was really surprised at how loud and softly clear these are and for the price its a steal. I dont like the way the cap cover isnt solid mount to the pickup but I was able to figuire that out thats one reason I gave it 4.5 . Thanks MF for having great DEALS at a Great price and SD for the VALUE as well.

          Nice change

          By Tyler B

          from pikeville, ky

Comments about Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered Single-Coil Bridge Pickup:

I bought this to finally replace the stock bridge p/u in my strat. And mainly because it comes in the Gilmour strat. A friend and I did it ourselves in about 15 minutes which was a first for both of us. It comes with detailed instructions and was a piece of cake to install. I really like the tone and with the right amp setting I can get a good Gilmour tone. I recommend it!!
