Seymour Duncan

An authentic recreation of those legendary pickups.

The Seymour Duncan Vintage for Broadcaster set is a vintage-correct reproduction of Broadcaster pickups. Recommended for traditional country, country pop, chicken pickin', rockabilly, blues, and blues-rock.

Bridge position
The 1948 pre-Telecaster pickup had an exceptional twangy, "nasal" sound with tremendous sustain. Leo Fender called it the Broadcaster. The STL-1b duplicates this sought-after vintage sound with larger-diameter (.197") pole pieces in a flat pole piece orientation. Compared to the Vintage '54, this pickup has slightly more output and more snarl in the mids. Comes with waxed cloth hookup cable.

Neck position
The STR-1 is the correct match in the rhythm (neck) position. The rhythm (neck) pickup in a well-balanced vintage Telecaster compliments the bright twang of the lead pickup with a smooth and open tone, warm lower-mids and airy highs. Comes with a chrome-plated brass cover and waxed cloth hookup cable and works equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage For Broadcaster Pickup Set:

        Greetings Reader,

I purchased these pickups to complete my "Project-Tele" in Dec 2012. I wanted a vintage Tele sound on this particular guitar which has a Fender "PAT. PEND." 3-brass saddle bridge to help achieve a vintage tone.
The nice price and the great reputation of Seymour Duncan helped me to decide to select these pickups.
I am not disappointed with the nice balanced, warm but with detail, "true-fidelity" sound I hear with these pickups.
In addition I selected the best, industry-standard electronic parts: CRL 3-way selector switch, Switchcraft output jack, CTS 250k audiotaper volume and tone pots, and Sprague "orange drop" tone caps.
I have a very unique "Project-Tele" since it has a Warmoth STRAT all-maple neck with 22-medium jumbo frets with a "flattish" 10-12 inch fretboard radius.

        Thanks for reading!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage For Broadcaster Pickup Set:

Installed these in an American Standard Tele. The tone is exceptional. I actually love the neck pickup, and I'm not a big fan of Tele neck pups. There is a nice full tone from both pups. I'm a big fan of Seymour Duncan. They've got a winner here.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage For Broadcaster Pickup Set:

Put this set in a 2011 American Special Tele, huge improvement in tone. Stock Texas Specials sounded good but not vintage tone at all. These pickups sound great as good as many boutique pickups out there for half the price. Neck pickup is a little on the warm side but that is how a vintage Tele neck is, bridge is spot on for twang and grit. The only down side is that the neck is not rwrp for hum cancelling in center position. These are a great upgrade to stock modern pickups.

              Bold and punchy

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage For Broadcaster Pickup Set:

I am only giving an overall rating of "8" because the true test, a live outdoor performance, has yet to happen. The SD Broadcastres replace an anemic set of mexi pups in a new mexi Tele. The Broadcasters sound bold, well-rounded, and strong. As a fingerstyle player, I rely on pickups that have clarity and response.
