OVERVIEW

The choice of millions of musicians worldwide.

The Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Capo is slightly curved and 2" across. This caop fits almost all acoustic steel-string and electric guitars.

The Original C-Series steel string capo features a patented locking action that provides an unrivaled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place”and removes it just as quickly.

And the Shubb C-Series capo doesn't create tuning problems. Its soft, resilient rubber is specially designed to work just like a fingertip, so the capo doesn't bend the strings over the frets. Its closing action is just like your hand's, so the Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo doesn't pull strings off center. As a result, no retuning is necessary.

After reading mixed reviews on leading makes and models of trigger capos, the Schubb Original C Series model seemed to be the logical, more sensible alternative.

A question for all you acoustic guitar-playing worship leaders: Just how quickly do you need to apply a capo, really? Unless you just got to have a capo that you can apply to the headstock of your guitar, you really ought to give the Schubb serious consideration. Really. So maybe it would take me two seconds longer to pull a Schubb from my back pocket and apply it to the fingerboard of my guitar as it would for you to undo a trigger capo from the headstock of your guitar and apply it to the fingerboard. Maybe. Do you really move from one song to another in a different key that quickly?

Consider Schubb. Seriously.
I decided to go with this capo after reading reviews that the slightly more expensive Deluxe S series was not as good as Original C-Series, which sounded good to me as I had used a similar model Schubb on my acoustic guitar in the mid- to late-80s to great satisfaction. In fact, my wife still has the same model for her 12-string acoustic. The fact that the C-Series is available in Black Chrome was all I needed to know to go with a Schubb for my Carvin AE185.
The packaging for the black chromed capo is labeled "Capo Noir ...C1k" with an image of a black cat on the backside.
For you acoustic guitarists who aren't particularly inclined to consider a Schubb over a trigger capo, consider the following: a) a Schubb is fully adjustable, allowing for minimal pressure to be applied to any fret with virtually no retuning; b) a Schubb isn't going to blow apart on stage as a trigger capo might; c) a Schubb may be placed away from the upper fretwire of the fret to which the capo is applied and thus, substantially out of the way of your fingers and without causing any string buzz; d) unlike a trigger capo that applies the same amount of pressure regardless of which fret it's situated on (i.e., regardless of neck width), a Schubb may be finely adjusted to apply only the amount of pressure actually needed; e) a Schubb is substantially smaller than a trigger capo and while it can't be quickly affixed to and left on the headstock, it doesn't hang out from or beneath the neck, plus there are things called pockets into which a Schubb may be kept as well as music stands upon which a Schubb may rest until needed.
In writing this review soon after receiving the capo, I can't speak for its longevity, though indications are that it's built just as well, if not better than, the Schubb I used in the 80s and thus, I presume it will last a good long time.
Considering the quality, its utility, and its features, it's seems priced about right.

poor quality

works ok once you get it on the guitar. The screw is difficult to turn, almost slightly bent and gets stuck. I do like the low profile. I like my kyser better.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

Although I would like to consider myself a professional musician, I cannot truthfully do so. Yet, the splendor and seeping greatness that comes out of this capo makes a two-week-guitarist like me feel like a god among men. How can one not feel as if they control underlings with this irresistibly shiny piece of guitaric wonder? This alone, my friends, should be reason enough to buy this capo. Not to mention, if you're a guy it helps you get the ladies. And if you're a girl, it can also help you get the ladies OR the men.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

I've tried several cheaper capos. This one is by far the best for the money. It's easy to put on and really minimizes string buzzing. It doesn't clip on your guitar when not in use but I really don't like that look anyway! I just keep it in my back pocket and grab it when I need it.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

If you are a serious performing Acoustic player, this is your capo. I bought my first during the first 6 months Shubb was in business, and it still performs flawlessly. That's after thousands of hours of live performance and recording studios. Show me another capo that has that record. If you don't own one, buy it and you will see what I'm talking about. JC

I do a lot of capoing in my solo acoustic shows. I've tried a lot of them over the years I've been playing. This one's the best!! I own 3 of Shubbs. One for my 12 string acoustic and a 5 string capo that I use instead of drop tuning to D on the E string during certain songs. All my guitars are Martins.

I originally bought the Dunlop Trigger which worked fine till I changed to lighter strings causing intonation sharpening. The Shubb capo is impressively made, high quality and easy to adjust and install. I tighten till the strings ring (easily adjusted) and I'm good to go. I also like that it's so small and unobtrusive. Definitely a "must have" accessory.

After owning a few other capos this is the BEST. It is easy to adjust. And you can minimize string pressure which helps keep your guitar in tune once you remove the capo.
Made of solid materials and will easily last a lifetime. The last capo you will every buy!

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

This is a great capo! I had been using Kyser Quik-Change capos for a good portion of my ten years of playing. While they got the job done they had their limits. For one, intonation wasn't always right and my guitar (especially my electric) would go out of tune after using it. After looking around for a new capo, I settled on the Shubb and it outguns the Kyser in every aspect. Its features really surprised me. For one, it's small and incredibly light weight, you almost can't tell that it's there. The adjustable knob is great and allows you to dial the capo to the right pressure so that you don't get any annoying buzz. Also my tone has greatly improved (which is an awesome bonus) making my acoustic sound much clearer and much more defined as opposed to the Kyser which I noticed muddied up the sound. Even though you have to make some adjustments this capo is still easy to use and is one of the best investments I have ever made! Give one a try it is awesome! Make sure you adjust the knob before you clamp the capo down, it will work much more efficiently.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

This is simply the best capo available. Easy to use, durable, and fully adjustable. A capo serves a single purpose - to adjust the pitch on the guitar. It has ZERO to do with style of playing, what you play, how you play, or any other such nonsense. It also does not cause buzzes on your guitar. If you experience buzzing, the problem is either with your guitar or how wrongly you've adjusted the tension on the capo. Get a Shubb, know how to use it properly, and you'll never be happier.
