        Very Good but not Great

        By haptown

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Soprano Ukulele Case:

Overall this case is a very good value but not without it's short-comings. First of all, the case pictured on this website is of a Guardian Vintage Soprano Ukulele case, not the Silver Creek. They are probably made by the same manufacturer but there are some distinct differences. For example, the Silver Creek does not include a Hygrometer as is shown in the photos on the Musicians Friend website. Nor does it have the oval brass case badge on the side of the case as is shown in the photo on the website. If you look closely you'll see that the badge reads "Guardian" with an animal image underneath.Furthermore, the Silver Creek case that was delivered to me has flimsy latches, a couple of pieces are loose and the keys to the lockable latch do not fit the lock. The Guardian case (I've been told) has better quality hardware. In addition, the neck saddle is set so high that the neck of my ukulele stuck up at a steep angle instead of laying flat and level from top to bottom. On the plus side I will say that this case is pretty tough, has a classic vintage look, a great "sausage style" handle and the structurally superior arched top.For the money it's a great deal but you will need to fix the neck saddle issue (I did) and eventually replace or repair the cheap latches.

        This Design Went Wrong Somehow

        By Timmm

        from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Soprano Ukulele Case:

The case looks OK, like a typical inexpensively made Chinese hard case. But when I put the uke in, I saw that the case is 3 inches deep; a standard soprano is only 2 inches deep. This means the uke does not fit properly in the case. It pivots on the neck rest and the head sticks up too high. You can make it work by putting an inch of padding in the case, but it seem tacky. It is as if the person designing the case did not know the depth of a ukulele. The handle also doesn't work out--it is a big guitar case handle, nicely padded, but the curve of the case results in there not being enough room for your fingers between the bottom of the handle and the top of the case. The case latches are also from a guitar case, and look way too large. On the other hand, they work. For $26 including shipping, it's OK I guess, but certainly worth no more than this. By the way, someone who's experience is "I have heard about it" may not have enough information to review an item, and this is a case in point. So to speak.

        Wonderful Quality, Be Careful.......

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Soprano Ukulele Case:

I bought this case to fit my Oscar Schmidt by Washburn soprano uke. BEAUTIFUL, hard shell, vintage style case, but if you have a guitar styled uke like mine, the pegs are side mounted. I have to put the instrument in headstock first. It's very tight, but it works. And, as a result I have to tune my uke everytime I take it out of the case. Small potatoes, but I'm willing to deal with it for such a beautiful, vintage style case.
