This is a very nice case. It's built to take whatever abuse you have. I bought it over the Epiphone case because most of the guitars I own are either Firebirds or similar guitars. It fits my Gibson neck-thru Firebird V and the Epiphone set-neck Firebird Studio with a Bigsby B5 wonderfully. I also have a bolt-on neck Epiphone Firebird (Slasher) and a bolt-on Explorer copy (an old Hondo) that do not fit as the neck joint does not sit right in the case. I also have a set-neck Gibson RD Standard that does not fit due to the lower horn shape (although it looks similar to a Firebird). The case could be modified to fit these guitars. So overall, the case is GREAT for Gibson Firebird/Explorer (just like it says) and that's about it.

This case doesn't fit a Firebird. The body section is too deep, thus if the neck is supported then there is a 1" space between the body and the case.... You would need to buy 1" foam to cut and lay in the case, then put the Firebird on the foam to get support on the body and neck...... Poor poor design.....

Comments about SKB Hardshell Guitar Case for Gibson Explorer/Firebird-Type Guitars:

I 1st ordered two roadrunner cases,as I've used alot of them previously. The assoc. said they would work for firebird and explorer.( about 3"-4" too short ) I cant believe Gibson sends them out without a case, and can't order one either. After sending the two roadrunners back I ordered one SKB,and one Epiphone. Either will work, but the pricer one SKB is a better case.It does have a funny shape, but protects it well.I had a foot broke off,but it was in the bag,and for the price should have sent back, but crazy glued it.I use the cases to keep the dustoff so I'm OK with it.Nice case!

Comments about SKB Hardshell Guitar Case for Gibson Explorer/Firebird-Type Guitars:

Great case for the $$! Fits either my Firebird or Explorer just fine (though I needed one for the Explorer). Only downside is that it doesn't stand up sideways (on end) in the "guitar closet", but lying down works just great. I'd buy another if I needed one!

I bought this case for my Edwards Explorer. I gave it four stars because I really like the case and think its great, but my guitar doesn't fit soundly in it. I'm going to assume this is because it was made to countour many different guitars and not just one. I've decided to keep it and overall I'm pretty happy with it, except for the lock. The lock is a straight up joke. The keys too.

Love this case! Great neck protection (much better than Gibson or Epiphone) for my Firebird.

          Not A Good Guitar Case

Comments about SKB Hardshell Guitar Case for Gibson Explorer/Firebird-Type Guitars:

For what I paid for this case I taught that it would be a best case for my Firebird guitar. Boy was I wrong the SKB case is made in China AND IS TOTAL GARBAGE. The guitar does not fit in the case very good, and there is a 3/32 gap when you close the case. And also cheap locking hardware, no quailty at all. This is the worst case that you can by for your guitar, Your better off with a gigbag.

Great case, but not for me...

Comments about SKB Hardshell Guitar Case for Gibson Explorer/Firebird-Type Guitars:

This case is top of the line. But, CAUTION: THIS CASE DOES NOT FIT A MOCKINGBIRD. I thought I would give it a try, and it is really close, but the neck portion of the cradle is too long for the BC Rich Mockingbird, and consequently the lid won

          Case data

Comments about SKB Hardshell Guitar Case for Gibson Explorer/Firebird-Type Guitars:

It is a fine case overall but it doesn't fit my epiphone prophecy futura that I bought it for. With some mutilation guitar is accepted. Would say this case is much better suited to a Firebird then the Explorer types and would suggest building a differnet case for each guitar instead of a " one size fits some " case.
