Wheel section bending

By DanOO7

from Phoenix

Comments about SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System:

I bought this cab at the suggestion of the Guitar Center saleman. But should have done some research first. Baiscally its an ok design. The best part of it is that it breaks down to like half the height size fully loaded. The bad is the bottom plastic surface where the wheels go is starting to bend really bad everytime you roll it around. Its like that part of the cab is flimsy and needs a redesign or maybe use something other than plastic.

overpriced and heavy but wonderful

By Ponybot 5000

Comments about SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System:

Let me start off by saying - I love the Mighty Gig Rig. It's built to last and it has made my life very easy. The casters are well built and roll true even under the beating of weekly gigging. Since, saying what I love will be redundant I'll get into what I don't love.Firstly, this beast is heavy and big. A lot bigger than it needed to be. It weighed so much with amps mounted in it that I had to go get a separate rack for the amps because it was simply unreasonable. All of the accessories for it are insanely overpriced. The butterfly latches are very flimsy. 3 of mine have broken and SKB doesn't sell installable replacements. Inside, I wish they would have installed some kind of cable management system but that's just nitpicking, now. Still, I love it for what it is.

This Rack is AWESOME.

Comments about SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System:

Only rack we could find to fit our Mackie Onyx 1620 Mixer - mixer requires 12 rack spaces up top and 1 or 2 to have enough room to make all connetions. This was recommended to us and works AWESOME. Features: Breaks down for travel and works like a Transformer! Nice, solid & secure latches. Casters have a lock that keeps them from rolling AND from turning left or right - locked down this baby goes nowhere.Quality: SKB lifetime warranty - if it breaks they fix or replace it. End of story - what else could you want?Value: This puppy is like most racks, pedalboards, and other musical equipment that's basically just molded plastic - WAY OVERPRICED. Don't get me wrong, it's rugged and useful as can be. Just when you start thinking about $400 for molded plastic and a couple of metal hardware pieces.Overall: Awesome rack for big mixers and portability. You can see ours with some stuff mounted in it at: http://geekswithblogs.net/jjulian/archive/2007/10/05/115872.aspx

Comments about SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System:

We sing on the weekends about once a month and use the rack for our mixer, wireless mics, and wireless ear monitors. Plenty of room and I like the way it stacks to raise the board up to waist level. It is a little bulky but still not bad. The only thing I don't really like about it is the rack area doesn't have a bottom in it. This allows the wires to fall down through the rack when your stacking it. We've used zip ties to tie the wires up and it's working fairly well.

This is the only rack that fits my Onyx 1640i. Very expensive but convenient. I had one defective wheel though.

It's frickin huge... but does the job

Comments about SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System:

This thing is to normal SKB quality standards... solid injection molded plastic that is built to last. I bought it to house a power amp, mixer and various rack mounted effects. I chose this one because it was actually less than the standard gig rig, would allow me to properly rack mount my Mackie VLZ3 and would leave room for expansion.I certainly leaves room for expansion... this thing is frickin huge!!! If you purchase the optional rear rack rails, you could mount 3-4 2u power amps in this (if mounted end to end), you would most likely need to add a 2u powered fan module to suck out the heat, still leaving room down below for a power conditioner and a couple of radio mic receivers. Up top I have a Mackie 1642 VLZ3 and even with a 2u vent panel for the cable run the back, you could fit a slim effect unit above it.This is a great unit for a larger PA system, but you will need a pickup or at the very least a large SUV to move it anywhere! There are also 2 lockable butterfly latches if you wanted to leave it on location but stop people taking the lid off.
