This is, in my mind, the best drum case you can buy without having your cases custom made. With the understanding that this is designed to be compact and transport small kits, there is very little to complain about.

Features:
Very sturdy wheels for rolling on flat ground!
Handles to make your bass player carry when dealing with stairs.

Eliminates extra trips by allowing you to hold all your hardware AND your cymbals in one road case.

Convenient storage for gigs. Can't tell you how many times parts of my gear were moved or misplaced before I started using this case on gigs. Now I keep my drum keys, drum cases (soft), drum dial, etc. all in my hardware case. If someone needs to move your gear, they move one piece and you still know where everything is!

** I have owned this case for over a year now and used it for many gigs & recordings. Everything seems to be holding up quite nicely.

4/5 - Only thing I could find wrong with this piece is that I think the handles could be a little stronger.

Overall, this is a great product that gets compliments on a regular basis. I recommend this case to anyone with a professional mindset towards drumming professionally.

I have used this trap case for seven months. The hardware that I transport in it is DW lightweight.
there is a separate cymbal compartment that I do not use so I am not putting an excessive amount of weight in this case, in fact I feel that by not putting any cymbals in the case I am not using it to its full intended capacity. Being that I am a full-time musician and have done so for the past 40 years I have owned several trap cases, fiber trap cases That through the years I have loaded with much heavier hardware than I am using now and these cases lasted for many years ! The bottom of this case where the casters attach is collapsing making the case extremely difficult to move. I've owned many SKB products And I always felt that they were of excellent quality but the design of this case is poor to say the least I am extremely unhappy with my purchase and plan on letting SKB know about this as well

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

Strong Case. Tough mold, awesome straps, and smoooooth casters. 6.5x14 snare fit perfectly. I also carry a 21' ride, two 19' crashes, an 18' crash, 14' hihats and an 11' splash with space issues without pads. The tray on top is great because I can set it next to my floor tom for easy access to gear. Fits behind the seat of my crew cab GMC truck.

Great for small kits, horrible for anything else

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

This set is ideal for small kits, but anything larger that a 4-piece with hardly any cymbals is going to be a problem. The case has a padded area that is great for storing expensive snares. The compartment next to it is great for pedals (if they don't have their own case). The removable tray works well for storing stands & accessories, but it can't hold many. The cymbal storage area poses the biggest problem. Once again, it's great if you only have a few cymbals, but it can't support that much weight (I had a ride, two crashes, a ride, & two pairs of hi-hats in there & the metal rod bent on me). Another downside: this case can't store rack components. If you play on a small jazz or punk set, then you will love this case: if you play anything larger, then this is not the case for you.

Solid as a rock! This case is built extremely well. Heavy solid parts. I just purchased a brand new snare drum,so I needed something to protect my new baby. The Top section & snare compartment are carpeted. I can see I am going to have this thing for a long long time.I HIGHLY recommend it...This thing rocks!

small and expensive, but very convenient

By Bryan-t0wwa

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

This case, in general is the sickest case you can possibly buy. I have my little problems with it though. It is in general too fricken small and its a little pricey especially considering that. I've had to do some tinkering, including changing my hi hat stand and consolidating two other stands into one to fit everything in the case, but the case is a beast and is so great. 4 wheels, is great/the best. I feel like the handles on top might break off, and if that happens I will be promptly returning the case and probably shelling out the additional money and getting the TRP X1 because I think it might be a lot bigger. It doesnt have the sick fold out cymbal case though. Oh well, I have the SKB X cymbal case anyway, whatev.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

I've had this case for over a year. It performs just as the other reviewers say.
My only beef is that there is no room for my throne seat (DW 9000 - round) if you put a snare drum in it. So, I put the throne seat in the molded snare compartment with my stick bag and carry my snare in a different case. Drummers never really travel "light".

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

when i bought this case in 2004 it was much cheaper, but it's worth it. i keep my snare, some cymbals, stands, and my throne in it, with a little room if i need it. this is a perfect addition to the TPX 1, if you have a larger set. one good thing for this price is you will never have to buy another one. The integrated cymbal vault is the most appealing if you have some overflow. Two cymbals vaults would make me very nervous.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

Great quality, great design. Perfect for a very small Jazz kit. I wish it was taller. Even though it has a space for my snare, but there's no room for it and my stands. But, with enough patience (!) I got everything in there. This will save me a lot of time on gigs.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

This holds enough cymbals & hardware to appoint a medium-sized kit, also safely housing a 14" snare drum up to 7, maybe even 8" deep. Everything is logically accomodated, snug and safe- but all that stuff in one box is HEAVY, and the box is too large for one strong person alone to load and maneuver. This is the problem with all SKB cases-- Strong, but never light. There are no unmixed blessings.

        By Marc (aka Bones)

        from Seattle

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

I use this as a percussion case vice drum case. Not an exact fit bu with a few "snapware" cases, I fit quite a bit in without much trouble. Very durable, takes a beating and keeps going. My only negative critique is that you can't put a lock on it - no holes or clip points to secure the lid other than the straps. I have two other SKB cases for stands/racks, and about to buy another.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

I purchased this trap case a few months back and I love it! The fold-down cymbal vault is big enough to hold my 16", 17", 18" Z Custom crashes, my 21" Mega Bell ride, 14" Mastersounds, and a 12" splash. As you can see it has plenty of room for all your cymbals. The pull off hardware tray is very handy for holding sticks, mics, keys, your snare stand, and many other accessories. The interior compartments hold my pedals and small cymbal holders and the carpeted snare drum compartment holds my snare firmly. I think that this and a SKB TPX-1 should be plenty to hold all the hardware a moderately sized drumset could use. Buy this case and consolidate your hardware!

        Great!!!

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

For it's compact size in comparisent to the trap 1 case, it has much versatility. In the case, I carry my Iron Cobra pedals, the saddle throne itself, my snare and a double braced snare stand. In the tray, I carry my Iron Cobra hi-hat stand, the base to my throne which is double braced, up to three Tama Road Pro boom stands which are all double braced, up to four Tama fast clamps and my stick bag. In the cymbal vault, I only carry three crashes and a pair of hi-hats with room to spare. I carry my 22" Hand Hammered Rock ride and my 20" china in the skb cymbal vault. This case is perfect for what it is. The casters w/brakes alone is a great feature. You'll see what I mean if you get it. This case has protected each and every single piece of gear I've put in it. It has done wonders for me as it will for you.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

I had an old fiber board case on wheels that needed upgrading. I got this and it is great and also reduced my need for a cymbal vault (one fewer item to carry = win!). Not quite big enough to hold my snare AND throne, but it holds one or the other and everything else with plenty of room. The cymbal holder works but it is a little curious that it has no nut to hold the cymbals on the post. They just sit there and fold up. Can be jostled loose while loading the rest of your gear since there is no latch to keep the cymbal holder in place, it just "snaps" into position. Once you have the lids on = no problem, but if you load the cymbals first (as most do) be careful while you are loading everything else. I expect to have this case a loooong time.

Comments about SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X Trap Case with Cymbal Vault:

Another great product from SKB. Lots of room inside. Has a carpeted spot for snare, and a bare plastic side for shorter stands, throne base, boom arms. The tray at top is one of the best features. I place my trigger module, cables and practice pad all in tray with plenty of room to spare. This unit comes with the wheels inside the case and will need to be screwed in. The casters have a brake on them as well, so it won't go rolling away.

The side cymbal vault is really great. My SKB cymbal vault was maxed out so this gives me the extra space I need. Please keep in mind this case is 50 pounds without anything inside.

This case is excellent. I put my snare, cymbals, sticks, and all my stands (except for my throne and hi hat stand) in the case. I wish it was a little bigger so I could fit my throne and hi hat stand too. I still love it anyway. I will like this case so much more when I get a trailor because I don't like having to lift it into my van. It is still great anyway. It is difficult keeping the cymbal compartment closed, even without cymbals in it, When you strap it closed, it's fine. I would recommend this case to anyone.
