I think there should be another fastener added to this guitar case at the inside of the V, on the handle side. My Gibson Flying V fits OK but there is space at the V, about an inch and a half. And a space at the end of head stock about an inch. Since there is not a Flying V Guitar Case from Gibson (that I could find) this was the best protective case that I could find. Apparently the SKB case was designed to accommodate several different V type guitars. I'm hoping that as the case "settles-in" the seal will close completely at the afore mentioned part of the case. This Guitar Case could be better than it is.

I looked into buying one of these for my Gibson Flying V faded cherry since I bought it used with a gig bag. The case itself is very sturdy and would be the choice for me except that my Flying V is too loose inside the case. There is enough wiggle room for the headstock to touch the end of the case which makes it a deal breaker for me. Flying V's are known for their fragile headstocks so if someone were to mishandle it or if the case took a hard knock the wrong way in transit then the headstock will come in contact with the case. It's too bad really since I think SKB makes an excellent case. If there was some extra padding supplied that could be put in the body area of the case to snug it up a little then this might work for me. Until then I guess I will keep looking.

Jackson RR3

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I bought a Jackson RR3(Gold pinstripes) and this case is perfect for it. It has TSA approved lock for air travel. Pretty solid and study case. No regrets just a bit pricey. It will hold any "flying v" style guitar. SKB cases rocks.

great for jacksons!!!!!!!

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I got this case about 5 days ago and so far I have no complaints. I have a jackson rr3 and it seemed imposible to find a case for it. When I saw this case I immediatley bought it because it said it holds jacksons and sure enough it holds very well. The only problem I have with it is that when I put my guitar in the case the neck rises up a little but that's the only complaint so far.

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

My Gibson Flying V is not snug in this thing at all and the guitar rests on the neck under the nut and the tip of its "wings", creating stress on the neck. Also, the handle is not placed well and the case feels unbalanced when carried with the neck half wanting to touch the ground. This case also is huge. I like my other SKB cases for my SG and Les Payl a whole lot better.

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

Disaster awaits you... Unless your idea of a case is allowing something to flop all over the place. At least an inch on each side of the wing AND quite a bit of lateral slop as well. I love skb cases...own an I series and a couple LP cases, but they totally failed on this one. In process of sending back...

One other thing to note... This thing is a monster from a size perspective!!

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I bought this product because I read it would be the best case for my Jackson RRXMG (24 fret). The case is very nice and super sturdy. I really like the way the latches are designed because I feel they're a bit harder to open than traditional locking fasteners. All that being said the guitar fits, but the headstock does hover a bit and the neck gets pushed when you close the case completely. Also the interior compartment is a bit small so don't expect put any type of musical book in there. Overall I'm pleased because my guitar is still protected.

I never take any of my guitars out to play without a case; I could not find a single one of my old cases that fit the BC Rich King V Jr. Great case; fits well.
