A great way to improve your sound.

The Tung-sol 6V6GT is the preferred OEM tube of the '50s-era Fender Tweed Champ and Deluxe amplifiers. The Tungsol 6V6 has a geometry designed to safely handle the higher voltages used in guitar amps-plus heavier plate and grid materials. The result: better mids and bottom while keeping the smooth top of the classic 6V6 vacuum tubes. The Tung-sol 6V6 breaks up evenly from low E to high up the neck. Blues players will LOVE these tubes for the way they sing!

Soft tubes reach saturation and break-up quicker. These tubes have lower plate current (Ip) and transconductance (Gm) matching numbers. They are preferred by blues guitarists for the break-up and sustain they provide.

Hard tubes have the highest amount of clean headroom before break-up and distortion. These tubes have high plate current (Ip) and transconductance (Gm) matching numbers. They take longer to reach saturation and are preferred by jazz, country, and bass players. Hard tubes are also used by guitarists who rely primarily on effects pedals to generate distortion.

Medium tubes fall in between soft tubes and hard tubes. They exhibit good headroom, but will break up and distort when pushed. These tubes have plate current (Ip) and transconductance (Gm) matching numbers in the middle of the range. Classic rock guitarists and players who play a wide variety of styles generally use medium rated tubes.

The Tunsol 6v6GT power tube is a great product if you like a warm tone tube with out the "insane metal edge". I repace the EH 6v6 that came with my Fender Super Champ, and the difference was impressive. These tubes are quiet and when I turn the (15W) amp up all the way up on the clean channel, I can gently pluck soft and mellow, with clean tube sound, then I can grab a pick and have the cloth ripping crunch only a tube amp. Can put out, the tone in these tubes do not seem to have the ear piercing highs of the EH tubes. Now I can set my treble knob around 5 and not have to turn it down to 2. I also replaced the pre amp tube with a Tungsol. Great tone, but agian, If youre looking for the Heavy Metal razor edge sound, these are NOT for you.....Great for blues and classic rock though!!! BTW I play an Ibanez Archcore as73 w/ d addario EXL115 strings. (also the best strings in my book)and I have a Jensen 10/35 MOD speaker in my Fender Super Champ cab.

Tung-Sol is a great old time tube brand. But the brand name was recently bought by The New Sensor Corp. and the tubes are now made in Russia, and most likely is the same factory as Sovtek tubes. The new Tung-Sols have been getting good reviews, so based on that, I ordered a matched pair for my DRRI. Well, these may sound great, but I wouldn't know, as one went thermal immediately. After inspection, it is quite apparent this is a flawed tube and poorly made. The glass tube is installed crooked into the base !!! For all I know, it has already leaked and there is no longer a vacuum in it. So, I shall wait and see what MF is willing to do about it. And I learned my lesson to always by tubes from a seller who actually tests them before they sell them, because, as I now understand, there are more than a few bad ones made and shipped by tube manufacturers.

Comments about Tung-Sol 6V6GT Matched Power Tubes:

Purchased these tubes for a Magnatone 413. Had the Chinese groove tubes 6V6GTs in it. I can say the Tung Sol 6V6GTs are a great improvement in the tone department. Louder and a much fuller tone with a full bottom end and smooth highs. These sound to me much like the RCA grey plates from the 60's. Tubes came packaged well with no problems. Price seemed a little high for Russian tubes but I see quality control is much better. But more important they deliver good solid tone.

Comments about Tung-Sol 6V6GT Matched Power Tubes:

Do yourself a favor , ask for a high Ip rating, which basically is the natural draw in milliamps per tube.
I redplated a TS 6v6gt rated at 23.5ma and now i get these in the 32-33.5 milliamp range.
These tubes break up nicely when driven so a early breakup isnt reccomended in my rebel 30 amp running 369volts on the tube plates, just learn from me.
These are great but use them with a high voltage and DO GET a HIGH Ip RATING,trust me !

I have 2 excelsior amps.. one with stock output tubes and one with 6V6GT. very easy to A/B the sound. In my opinion there is nothing to complain about with the stock tubes, sounds real old school.. but the GT's smooth out the tone and has a nice slight edgy break-up. I perform with both amps, one with the GT's and one with the Chinese stock tubes'tied" together most of the time.. sometimes only one or the the other. Using high end cables makes a difference in most amps but with these minimalistic amps any change is a big change.. tried other high end tubes but for my use the GT's were the obvious choice hands down.

Made my Cheap Amp sound Great

Comments about Tung-Sol 6V6GT Matched Power Tubes:

This tube really lived up to it's description. I placed a duet in my Epiphone Valve Senior Practice head and what a difference! It sounds so much better. The mids have some really nice harmonic content in overdrive and everything sounds full yet clear at the same time. The bottom is tight and the highs creamy and smooth. The stock tubes in the head were EH6V6EH and they didn't sound bad but they were a bit pointy in the top end. This set fixed that problem. Just put them in and hope they hold up. They certainly made a huge improvement for this amp model.

I replaced the stock GrooveTubes in my Super Champ XD amp with a pair of these. The stock tubes had a bad rattle and the highs nearly made my ears bleed. After finally getting sick of the rattle I swapped in a pair of these and not only did the rattle disappear, the mids were much improved and the icepick pretty much eliminated. I don't have much experience with tubes, but this was enough of an improvement to prompt a review. Provided these hold up, I will definitely be a repeat buyer!

I've been playing for about 10 Yrs, and I recently replaced all 3 tubes (2 power, 1 pre amp tube) in my Fender Super Champ XD with Tungsol, I am very pleased with the quiet, warm tube tone of the Tungsol 6v6GT power tubes.I use an Ibanez as73 archcore w/D'addario exl 115 strings. The sound is warm with smooth mids, and no harsh highs.I don't recommend these for Metal players, these tube don't seem to do the "insane metal edge" deal very well. But blues and classic rock they will do, with flying colors, plenty of crunch and full out distortion with out the ear piercing highs I've heard with other tubes.Because my amp is only 15W, I can crank it up all the way and I want to just melt.Tungsol 6v6GT tubes are worth every penny IMO.
